60 years later...

Y/n's POV:

I looked up and smiled softly at the two children. They always wanted the story between the boy and the girl who had food for names and found love in the most hopeless situation. They never made it past their wedding.

Rosie and Jules. My wonderful daughter, Lizzy's, two girls. Soda wanted to name her Lizard and call her Liz for short. I told him to never step a good three feet from a birth certificate. We eventually settled on Lizabeth, calling her Lizzy.

I rose from my rocking chair, folding the blanket and draping it over the back. I walked over to Rosie and placed a kiss on her forehead, tucking her in and walking to Jules and doing the same for her.

I quietly walked out the door and closed it, walking through the hall back to me and Soda's room. I looked at all the pictures on the wall. After me and Soda's wedding, Darry decided to go to college. He got a business degree, and began his own construction company. He met a nice girl, and together, they have have two boys and a girl.

Two actually got a teaching degree after he eventually graduated, and taught at the high school. Him and another teacher hooked up, got married, and together, they had two girls. Some of the funniest and sweetest girls you'll meet.

Somehow, Dallas got into the rum business and now owns a multi-million dollar company. He never got married, which we always tease him about whenever we get together. I don't think any of us saw Dallas become a rum tycoon, but for some reason, it just makes sense.

Johnny grew up to become a civil rights activist. Who ever thought quiet little Johnnycakes would become a civil rights activist? When he was helping with the Transgender movement, he met this really nice guy and together they adopted two boys. Funny how the boys are louder than their fathers combined.

To no one's surprise though, Pony became a big time movie director. He made good money and fell hopelessly in love with an actress. They got married and had a little boy, who probably is one of the prettiest boys to ever exist. Besides my Soda of course.

Mary and Curly got married about a year after me and Soda did. I was the maid of honor, and it was probably the craziest wedding I've ever been to. It suited them. A couple weeks after the wedding, Mary told me she was pregnant with Curly's kid. I was happy for her, and nine months later I became the god mother of baby Astoria.

Steve took over the DX, and made a decent amount of money. He met a soc girl, Evie, and both of them fell in love. She left her parents to move to the West side and live with Steve. They never officially got married, but had a little girl who they named Lynn, after mom.

A couple months after our wedding, Soda got shipped to Vietnam. It was the scariest year of my life. There were nights where I just completely crashed after weeks of not sleeping well. I cried when he came back home. I cried and held him and refused to let go.

About a month or so after he got back, I got pregnant with our first kid. Eric, a boy with Soda's eyes and smile, and his mother's hair. After him, we had three more. Kelly, Lizzy, and Leo. Soda worked with Steve at the DX, while I stayed at home and watched our kids. I didn't mind it, those kids were fun, and I always had at least one member of the gang willing to help whenever I needed it.

We're all retired now, enjoying the last little precious moments of life we have left. I spend most of my time with Soda and the gang, or my grandchildren.

I walked through the quiet dark hall, smiling softly at all the photos on the walls of my family over the years. Mine. My family. The family that at one point was only me, Steve, and Mom, now has grown to so many people. I keep everyone close, because I know how things come and go. We have to enjoy it while we can. Savor the moment and don't get too caught up in the future and what may be.

"You're reminiscing again Cookie," Soda whispered softly from behind.

"Enjoying the small parts of us we have left," I smiled at his voice, leaning back into him.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and placed a soft kiss on my neck. "You say that like we're leaving each other."

"We couldn't. We'd miss each other too much. We could live a thousand lives and still find our way back to each other," I said, turning around and wrapping my arms around his neck.

"You're right about that," he said, gently brushing his lips against mine. "What story did Rosie and Jules want tonight?"

"The same one they always want. The story of a boy and a girl with food for names, who found love despite every reason not to," I chuckled softly, resting my head on his chest.

"Yeah, it's probably the best story out there," he said, and I could hear the smile in his voice. "You ready to go to bed?"

I smiled a little and hummed. "Yeah, let's go to bed."

With his arms still wrapped around my waist, we walked to our room and shut the door behind us. I got into bed and Soda turned off the lights. He crawled into bed and almost immediately, his arms wrapped back around my waist, pulling me flush against him.

"Goodnight Cookie. I love you," his lips brushed against my ear.

"Goodnight Soda. I love you too," I whispered back.

Like every other night, he held me close to him as we fell asleep, not once letting go. Because if there was one thing me and Soda would never do, it was let go of the other. We were in it for the long haul, and even death couldn't do us part. That was just the story of us.
