After the Rebellion

Nightmares

*Katniss Pov*

"I sit in a garden with prickly white roses and I smell blood just like I did when I talked to snow, but I also smell the scent of peppermints and lavender and know my Peeta and my little duck is in this room as well. 

But the smell of blood overpowers the others and before I know it Snow is in front of me. He says to me Ms. Everdeen I thought we agreed never to lie to each other . I stare at him blankly scared of what he is going to do,"where is Peeta and Prim, I ask. 

Well Ms. Everdeen, they're right here, he says quietly. "You let me die in a fire", says Prim. "You left me to die in the arena you mutt", says Peeta. 

They slowly start to walk closer to me and then I'm face to face with my little duck, and she slaps me hard on the jaw screaming "YOU LET ME DIE, now its your turn". Peeta smirks and comes closer and they both start beating me and then my whole world goes black.

I wake up and let out a blood curdling scream and stuff my face in my pillow, but then someone walks in. 

I see its Peeta and because of my nightmare I'm afraid of what he is going to do, and I back up "please don't hurt me". He stays in the same place and says

 "Katniss I'm not going to hurt you". He comes closer and sits on my bed, "do you want to talk about your nightmare?" 

No.. I say quietly while crying, just stay with me? Okay he says while getting under the covers I lay on his bare chest listening to his heart beat, and this calms me down slightly.

 I slowly start to close my eyes feeling safe with his arms wrapped around me and I doze off. 

I wake up still in Peeta's arms and this is the first time in a while I actually had a good night of sleep. Peeta makes me feel so safe when he wraps me up in his arms like this, he starts to wake up and smiles when he sees me. 

"Good Morning" he says. Good morning, I say. 

My stomach starts to rumble and Peeta asks me if I'm hungry, I nod my head and he gets up to go make me some breakfast. I get out of bed and walk downstairs to the smell of cheese buns filling the kitchen. 

I love Peeta's cheese buns more than anything, and he knows it too. 

I sit down at the dining table and Peeta brings me a couple of cheese buns with a glass of water.

 I hear something ding and Peeta goes to the kitchen to grab a piece of warm toast for himself and sits back down at the dining table. 

"How'd you sleep?"

 I slept good after you came in. Good he says. I finish my cheese buns and he finishes his toast and takes both of our dishes and puts them in the sink. 

I think I'm going to head home now because I practically barged in last night. 

You don't have to go home I would love the company, and you didn't barge in I asked you to stay. You can leave if you want to though.

I'll stay, he says.

Me and Peeta decide to go to the meadow together, and he made cheese buns and sandwiches for us. I wear a dark green blouse with some jeans and I let my wavy hair fall naturally. 

I am meeting Peeta at the meadow this evening at 5:30, and the sun sets at 6:00, I arrive at the meadow and see Peeta he is wearing a black t-shirt with some jeans. 

Hey Katniss, Hey, I say cheery.  

We sit down on the blanket and I eat some cheese buns he made us.

The sun just set and me and Peeta are talking about how our lives have been, and then Peeta grabs something out of the bag he brought and it is a necklace with a heart on it. 

Then he gets down on one knee and says, Katniss Everdeen will you be my Girlfriend? 

Yes Peeta! Of course he hugs me and I enjoy his embrace, and then I press my lips to his without even thinking, he kisses me back and then we hug again.

 I lay in his lap and we watch the sunset together enjoying each others company.

An hour later we decide to head back home and we walk back hand in hand. Will you stay the night with me? I ask. Sure Katniss, I would love to. He says.

 We arrive at my house and he puts away all of our leftovers and I get into my night clothes while he showers. He comes out of the bathroom with just a towel on and I can see his 6 pack.                                                                                  

"He is so handsome" I think to myself.                                                                                                                            

What are you staring at. He asks. You I say, your just so handsome. Not as beautiful as you, I blush. 

I get under the covers with Peeta and lay on his chest and know my sleep will not be invaded with nightmares since he is with me.

"I have my boy with the bread back"
