Growing Back Together

It's been a month since Peeta has asked me to be his girlfriend, and I wear the necklace he gave me every day. 

I don't usually love jewelry but because it is from Peeta it is very special. 

Peeta lives here now and we didn't even plan it but it just kind of happened because he was here so much he brought in a couple shirts and now he officially lives here. 

I enjoy his company so much and my home feels a lot more like home. 

Peeta has also thought about opening the bakery back up to give him something to do during the weeks, we don't need the money but he loves baking and we both thought it would be nice to have a bakery opened in district 12. 

District 12 is a much better place now, the schools have been redesigned and all the ashes and smoke was cleared out. 

They also added some shops and rebuilt homes. Overall district 12 is a pretty good place now. 

Today Johanna Mason and Annie Odair are coming to visit because it has been a while since we have seen them. 

Annie recently had her baby and she named him Finn after his father. Johanna is also bringing her new boyfriend to dinner. 

Peeta is making us dinner since he is such a good cook. 

"Hey Kat i'm going to head to the hob to get some groceries ill be back"  

Peeta yells from downstairs. Okay Peeta! I yell back. I decide to hop in the shower and get ready for dinner.

I wash my hair with some vanilla shampoo and conditioner. I run my fingers through my hair getting all the oils out. 

I use some strawberry body wash and wrap myself up with a towel. I grab one of Peeta's t-shirts and throw it on. 

I untangle my hair with some leave in conditioner and then I hear the door open.  

"PEETA" I scream very loud.

 I hear him drop the grocery bags and run upstairs. Are you okay? he says worried. Yes I'm fine I just missed you. You scared the hell out of me Kat. I'm sorry, I say. It's alright darling. 

He sits on the bed and I lay on his chest. What time is it? I ask. It's 2:34, they're going to be here in about two hours, he says. Okay I'm going to get ready. Alright, he says. I'm going to hop in the shower real quick. Okay, I say.

 I do my makeup and start to get changed into a silk black dress. I take off the t-shirt and see all the scars all over my body.

 How can Peeta love me. I have ugly brown hair and my body is full of scars. I put the t-shirt back on and bring my knees to my face and cry. 

Peeta deserves someone better and prettier. 

"Kat what's wrong?"  

Peeta asks and scoops me up into his lap.

"I'm ugly and have too many scars and don't deserve you"

What? first of all you're not ugly, you're the most beautiful girl I have ever laid eyes on, and your scars are not ugly they show how brave you are.

 Also Kat you do deserve me its me who doesn't deserve such a beautiful girl like you. 

Peeta you deserve me don't ever say that you don't. 

Fine but promise to not tell yourself you don't deserve me because you do, you deserve the best man in the world. I already have it, I say. Thanks Kat he says and kisses my forehead.

I walk downstairs in the black dress I picked out and smell Peeta's cooking and immediately I get hungry. Peeta stares at me for a second whistling and I hit his chest. 

"Shut up Peeta" 

Sorry I just can't help myself he says. You're just too gorgeous. I blush and embrace him and ask What are you cooking? I am cooking Lasagna, he says.  

It smells delicious I say. I hear I knock on the door and say I'll grab it. When I open the door I see Johanna and her new boyfriend, David. 

"Hey brainless" she says

Johanna! I squealed. I embrace her, and we have actually become a lot closer. I'm David says the guy with brown hair and tan skin. 

I'm Katniss I say and shake his hand. Come in, I say politely. I'm David he says to Peeta, Nice to meet you I'm Peeta, he says.

 I hear another Knock and its Annie. Annie! I hug her and I say hello to her little son Finn. You must be Finn I say. to the little boy, he is 6 months old. He just stares at me because he can't talk yet and Annie walks inside with Finn in her arms.

 Hi Peeta! Hi Annie, they both hug and Peeta says hi to Finn. 

He would be such a great dad.  "Another thing I prevent him from doing".

Bread boy how have you been says Johanna. Not bad, Peeta says. Then someone barges in and I immediately know its Haymitch because anyone else would knock on the door. 

"Sup sweetheart"

Haymitch we have talked about you barging in, says Peeta. Did we? Yes I say. What is this drunkard doing here says Johanna, Annie laughs.

 I smelled food says Haymtich. Of course you did, I say. We have extras, he can stay says Peeta. 

We all sit down for dinner and talk about how we have been since the war. 

We all finish our food, and Annie, Finn, Johanna, and David head to the hotel they booked in district 12 they are going to be visiting Plutarch tomorrow in the Capitol and they decided to stay in 12 tonight.

Bye you guys! I say. Goodbye!

Ready for bed? Asks Peeta. Yeah I'm so tired, me too. He says. 

I head upstairs and throw on another one of Peeta's t-shirts and some sleep shorts. His clothes are just so much more comfortable and they smell like him as well. 

I get in bed and wait for Peeta while he cleans up downstairs. I hear him walk up the steps and walks in our room. He takes off his shirt revealing his six pack, and puts on some shorts and gets in bed. I lay on his bare chest. 

"Goodnight Kat"

"Goodnight Peeta"

I listen to his heartbeat and close my eyes and drift of into sleep.
