[new year + new chapter. enjoy beautiful people 🩷]

Unexpected rain poured over the city of Syracuse. Civilians walked hurriedly with their faces tucked inside their shirts and jackets. Grant was fortunate to make it to the truck before it began to pour. He sat back as he scrolled through his phone. Going to the gym was on his itinerary, but he pushed it back due to the weather. He'd just left his meeting with Revive and was ready to crawl back into bed.

"Where are we headed to?"

Grant glanced at Tahj, who was busy adjusting her seatbelt. She seemed comfortable in her hoodie and sweats. A skully covered her head, and she wore glasses. A slight pout appeared on her face. Grant wasn't bothered by it since he knew it was her natural mug.

"Home..." He trailed off.

Immediately, Tahj furrowed her brows in puzzlement. Before speaking, she took a few sips of her bottled water and said, "I thought we were stopping by the print shop?"

"I changed my mind," Grant muttered. He wasn't in the mood to see his father.

"You changed your mind?" Tahj reiterated. "Boy, Dominick is waiting for you. He said he wanted to see the contract."

Grant didn't respond. Instead of answering, he pulled his hoodie over his head and focused on his phone. Tahj rolled her eyes. She hated when Grant acted this way. He had a habit of being quiet and nonchalant whenever he was moody.

"What's wrong with you?"

He shook his head before glancing at his buzzing phone. Solana sent him a text. Instantly, he was drawn and decided to place his focus on that. He opened the message and read it thoroughly before replying.

We need to talk.
Like soon. Solana.

I'm done with the meeting and about to be home
Im gonna pick you up. Grant.

"Yo, something is wrong with you." Tahj continued while studying Grant. She leaned over to be nosy but realized Grant had a privacy screen on his iPhone. There wasn't much she could see.

"You want to meet Solana?" Grant questioned Tahj before locking his phone. He glanced at the woman, who had a puzzled expression.

"Solana?"

He shrugged and said, "Yeah."

Grant didn't talk much about his love life. Tahj was aware of Solana but had yet to meet her. However, she was shocked to hear those words come out of his mouth.

"I mean...yeah." Tahj pushed out hesitantly. "If she's willing to meet me."

"I'm sure she'll be alright with it." He stated without much thought. "Solana is cool."

"I hope so because I don't want to deal with another Annika."

"She's nothing like her." Grant declared with boldness and confidence. In his opinion, Solana was an overall better person than Annika. She was thoughtful, generous, and admirable.

"So that's why you're sitting over there with a frown? You were waiting on Solana to reach out to you." Tahj jeered, putting him on the spot. The driver glanced in the rearview mirror but didn't speak. "Yo, kid." Tahj nudged Grant. "You're in love."

Grant sucked his teeth, but he didn't deny it verbally. Instead, he shook his head and looked outside the window. There wasn't much he could say because he was still trying to understand his relationship with Solana. He'd wanted her for months, but she wouldn't budge or accept his offer of being his girlfriend. Now, things were different. They were fucking-constantly and getting to know each other's bodies. Instead of becoming uninterested, his love for her grew. Grant wanted to make Solana his girlfriend, but he assumed she would reject him again and want to slap the situationship label on their relationship.
