[enjoy beautiful people! 🩷]

The car ride from the clinic was tense. No one muttered a word-not even the driver and bodyguard. Grant sat in the back with his AirPods in. He was too occupied with scrolling on Instagram. A few people were congratulating him on his win. Recently, he'd won the student council election. Initially, he ran for president but dropped to vice president after assaulting Jalen.

Now, things were different for him. Grant was selected to become Winston State's newest president. People showed their happiness by making posts and wishing him the best. Even Grant was excited. However, he held it in because his father was in a dejected mood.

"Eleven years of preparation..." Dominick began as he shook his head. He looked out the window, watching the trees and buildings as the Cadillac traveled on the road. "Eleven years, and it's all down the drain."

Grant didn't seem to hear his father. He was too busy bopping his head to Young Boy NBA. Unexpectedly, he ran across a picture of Solana. She recently posted a selfie of herself on Instagram. He took his time examining the photo. Solana was a beautiful sight to see. The yellow blouse she wore complemented her chocolate skin. She wore no makeup but ensured her wispy lashes were intact, and gloss covered her full lips. Her natural hair was combed perfectly into a bun. She even managed to lay her baby hair perfectly.

He liked the picture while inspecting her likes. Solana had more than ninety likes but less than two hundred. Only a few comments were left, and they were from her friends.

A nudging gesture snatched him away from his thoughts. Grant removed his right AirPod and placed his attention on his father. He noticed the stern expression etched across Dominick's face.

"What's up?"

"So, what's the plan?"

Grant looked from left to right in puzzlement. He didn't know what his father was talking about. He was too busy reminiscing about Solana and the night she stayed at his apartment. They didn't do anything out of the ordinary. The pair had dinner together and ended the night watching movies. Grant shared his bed with her, and that was it. Solana left the following day since they both had errands to run.

"Your basketball career is over-that's done," Dominick said aloud as he tried to register the situation. He grew angry as he realized the person who injured his son was still out there roaming free and not being punished for ruining his son's basketball career. He even grew upset with Annika for making him bend his leg.

"So what are you going to do? What are your plans?"

This was Grant's time to be strong and let his father know what he was going to do-whether he was injured or not.

"I'm still interning at the law firm." Grant rasped. "Hopefully, I'll become permanent after I graduate." He scrolled up a few pictures until he landed on a photo of his. Grant reached his hand out and added, "I also was elected President of Winston State University. I'll be focusing on that, too."

Dominick eyed his son's phone. He noticed Grant standing there in his suit. He looked very professional. His hair was neatly braided, and he sported a manicured mustache-it was different from the wild look he was rocking now.

His eyes lowered in suspicion as he looked away, resulting in Grant moving his phone out of his father's reach. His dad didn't congratulate him. Oh well.

"This was in your plans all along." Dominick began.

"I mean..." Grant shrugged and said, "I told you I wanted to pursue a career in law. I like politics."
