Summer stayed silent for a while. She didn't say anything because she was disconcerted by the events that took place. Unexpectedly, she discovered Andrew's obvious love for porn—gay porn. Not only was he watching it on his laptop, but he was also getting a good view of the explicit videos on his television.
"I know this shit looks crazy..." Andrew responded in a thick southern drawl. "But I can explain."
Summer finished swallowing the remainder of the chicken and rice she had in her mouth. She cleared her throat before pushing out, "You don't have to explain anything to me."
"Nah, I have to." He objected as he turned his television off. Andrew sighed and stood up to pace the room.
Summer watched as the beefy guy moved around as if he'd just received some bad news. He ran his hand over his hairy chin and eventually placed his eyes on her. He wondered what was on her mind and how she viewed him. His negligence bothered him. Andrew completely forgot that he only paused the video and turned the television off due to one of his roommates knocking on the door. He suddenly remembered throwing his wireless headphones on the bed after he paused the porno and powered his tv down.
"I um..." Andrew trailed off, feeling very vulnerable about being exposed. A few people who were close to him knew he was into gay pornography. However, a lot of people were clueless about his hobbies.
"Andrew." Summer cut him off. She didn't want to hear his explanation. The damage was already done, and there was nothing he could do to fix it. "You don't have to explain yourself."
Brushing the situation off wasn't that easy for Andrew. He'd just been exposed and didn't know how it would affect his life. He looked around in curiousness as he tried to keep himself together. Blowing up would only cause more damage.
"Just hear me out—please." Andrew pleaded with her. He touched her knee, and Summer moved his hand. He sighed again before saying, "If you're wondering...yes, I do like men."
Summer eased her eyes on his flushing face as she sat there in silence. Her plate of food was still sitting on her lap, ready to be devoured. Unfortunately, her appetite had spoiled. She batted her lashes a few times before finally parting her lips to speak.
"If you like men...then why are you trying to pursue me?"
Andrew shook his head and said, "I like women, too. I'm bisexual."
For some reason, Summer could barely breathe. She looked around the room in puzzlement as she tried to steady herself.
"I planned on telling you about it. I just didn't know how you would react." Andrew stated with honesty. "Most girls don't fuck with bisexual men."
Summer eased her eyes on him and shook her head lightly. She wasn't homophobic, but she knew she didn't want to date a bisexual man. That path was bizarre to her.
"I think I better go." Summer muttered before standing up. She placed her Styrofoam plate in the bag and headed for the door. Suddenly, she was halted by a strong force.
Immediately, Summer glanced at her left hand and realized Andrew was holding her wrist. She brought her eyes up to the hefty man and studied his facial expressions with her widened eyes.
Andrew looked distressed yet irritable about her dismissing him and wanting to leave. He feared she would run off and tell everyone how she found out he was bisexual.
