Mazed Love

Late last night
She gave you a call
She was giving up on you
But deeply you thought
You couldn't go down
Go down without a fight

The next morning
You were thinking it over
Silently, quietly suffering
You screamed out for help
And I was there for you
You felt a little bit light

Might not mean the world
Might not be your princess
But I've been there for you

When will you realize
That I'm right here right now
And that I've sought to save you
From the dark
From your own demons
Just take my hand and you'll see
It'll be as easy as breathing with me
I'll be your light, your melody
Through this mazed love
We'll travel both wide and far

She's been yours for years
I've only met you months ago
Yet I feel your pain
Yet I'm just sitting around
As you keep getting pushed around
And I watch you getting hurt

Might not mean the world
Might not be your princess
But I've been there for you

When will you realize
That I'm right here right now
And that I've sought to save you
From the dark
From your own demons
Just take my hand and you'll see
It'll be as easy as breathing with me
I'll be your light, your melody
Through this mazed love
We'll travel both wide and far

Our love might be hard at times
It won't always be a fairytale
It may not be perfect
Love has always been a mad maze
But with my madly mazed heart
I'll give you all  this love I carry.

Note:

I wasn't sure at first whether this one should make it to the final edition of my poetry book. I changed a few things here and there, even now as I'm on the brink of publishing it for the world to judge and love and hate on it. But I kept this poem as intact as possible, probably so that I can remember where I came from. My writing journey surely is not perfect and surely did not always lead to wonderful and enticing poems, but I remember feeling proud of it back when I wrote it in late 2015 / early 2016, as I'd written it within 45 minutes. However, now that I look back, it feel like a rubbish beginner's work.

But hey, like I said, I'm aware that my writing journey didn't always make up for my aspiration to become a great writer. Someone used to tell me, journey before destination. Couldn't agree more :)
