It was a writing contest, offered by maximumpop.co.uk - and while I am no resident of UK neither Ireland, I failed to read the terms and conditions so entered the contest anyways. Does anyone know what came of this song contest? I really wish I got to hear the final version of the song, since I love the band The Script.

The parts I submitted for the contest are in Italics. Looking back, I think eight lines is pretty limited to judge of someone's worthiness of skills to match The Script's level of lyricism.

I never did feel complete
You're the girl I see in my dreams
I never thought you would leave
I think you said I was too mean

And when I asked you, you said no
I didn't know where I could go
Maybe I came on too strong
Oh no

And when you told me, you said go
You didn't care, I felt so low
How did I read you so wrong
Oh oh

We are the kids of summer
Never be the same, moving on
Said we'd stay together
Forever never seems, seems so long

We're growing up and moving on
We're gonna raise the roof while we're still young

Even though we're running out of time
The freedom is ours, we make no crime
As we get older

We try to follow the river stream

The memories we've made
The games we've played
Who thought this had to end
When you asked me away to wend

And if I see you out in fifteen years
Will you have changed so much
And if you see mem out in twenty years
Will you remember us
I got to bare my life now
And you get to leave this all behind.

I just made a research to try and track it back down - pretty intricate given that the song is not under the band name The Script and there's very little info to be found about the book series, if not the Wikipedia page that doesn't even mention the songs.

The writing contest stated that it was for a book series, "The Rock 'n Roll Diaries", written by Jamie Scallion, a series of which each book is accompanied with its own soundtrack written by The Script and Jamie.

If you're curious, you can listen to the linked YouTube link on this chapter - and if it doesn't work, you can search on Apple Music or Amazon music or YouTube (YouTube Music as well) or Deezer even, "Owning It Sessions", album by the Rockateers, and "Kids Of Summer" is the opening track of the EP. It actually sounds very much like The Script music style and genre!
