The Baby Shower

Jungkook took me out to brunch the next day. We went to this nice little cafe, it was a little drive away, just outside the city. The sunlight filtering through the café's large windows. We ordered and we ate happily. I looked at him from across the table. He had been acting a little strange lately, but I had assumed it was just the usual pre-baby jitters. But today seemed to be something more than that. He kept looking at his phone, and bouncing his leg up and down like he was nervous or anxious about something.

"Jungkook, what is it?" I asked, my tone concerned and my eyes focused on him..

"What? Oh... nothing baby," he replied, grinning. But his grin seemed slightly forced. It was quiet on the drive home. But Jungkook was still being a gentleman and he opened the car door for me and helped me out. He made sure he unlocked the door first and when he opened the door, something was off. He led me inside by the hand.

As we walked into the house further I was greeted by a chorus of cheers from our friends, Jimin, Jin, Taehyung, and Sonjia came dashing out of nowhere. They had decorated the living room with baby-themed decorations and had set up a gift table off to the side.

"I can't believe you did all this," I said to Jungkook in complete shock. The streamers and balloons were everywhere.

"I wanted to do something special for you and our baby, And you know Jin wouldn't trust me to do this all by myself.... Neither would Jimin or Tae actually." he replied with a cute smile, taking my hand. He leaned over and kissed my cheek before kissing the back off my hand.

As the day went on, we laughed, played a few games and talked as we ate the amazing finger food that Jin had made.. Finally I opened gifts from everyone, my heart was filled with gratitude. Clothing, baby socks and little booties, as well as some larger items to help take care of our little one. A whole baby book set gifted to us by Namjoon, and a little baby bowl, plate, cup and chopstick with spoon and fork set from Jin. All of it was more than I'd imagined .When it was time for the cake, Jungkook pulled me close and whispered,

"I love you, Ellie." He placed a soft kiss to the side of my head.

"I love you too." I replied softly to him with a smile..

As I looked around at the people I loved most in the world, and two new friends who I'd gotten to know a little and looked forward to getting to know more- I couldn't help but feel a sense of overwhelming happiness. I was so grateful for this new chapter in my life... hell.. My new life with Jungkook and this amazing family we were building together. The guys cleaned up together, Jimin and Tae goofed off, popping each balloon before recycling them. I noticed Namjoon pulled Jungkook off to the side, Yoongi watched them exit the room as well. He looked at me and walked over.

"Hey. Thanks for inviting us. Don't worry about those two." He said like he was trying to come off as friendly. He did seem genuinely thankful though.

"Well, You're both Jungkook's friends. Ex's? I'm not sure the proper term to use." I admitted. Yoongi smirked and nodded.

"You could call us Ex's.. but, I think we've always just been close friends. Whatever was past.. Is just that, the past. Jungkook found himself and look, he has a family of his own. I think this is what that bratty kid has always been searching for." Yoongi said with a grin. "Even if he didn't know it. He always seemed lost... but looking at him now, when he's with you. I don't know your story, but you for sure saved that guy from a lot of bad." His words were something I didn't really think about. The only thing I knew was how Jungkook in fact... saved me.

"I don't know if I could take credit for saving him... but I do know that he saved me from a very bad place. He's brought me into the sunlight and has given me some things you can't put a price tag on... like hope, and love." I said, gently rubbing my baby bump. Yoongi smiled and nodded. Soon Jungkook and Namjoon returned from the other room and eventually our lovely guests had to get going.
We said our goodbyes to our friends, Jungkook set the baby gifts in the nursery, which he was working on and wouldn't let me see. As I watched him move the last of the gifts and return to the living room where he looked around for a moment, I reached out to touch his arm, my fingertips brushing against his skin.

"You've spoiled me." I teased, my voice soft. He chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

"I'm just trying to make up for all the B.S and stupidity on my part.." He replied. My heart ached with a bittersweet pang. our relationship had been a little rocky, But the love blooming between us had grown stronger, more resilient.
