the return

She hears noise in the kitchen and goes toward it. She sees John on the floor; he's alive but very hurt. She rushes over him. She puts pressure on his wounds. She calls 911 but Katherine is behind her.

John looks scared and whispered,"Behind you."

She turns herself but Katherine's not behind her anymore. She takes the knife and goes in the hallway. Katherine passes behind her with super speed. Elena turns herself. Katherine is behind her again. She rushes on the door with super speed and gets out of the house. Elena is scared.

Later the police and the ambulance are here. They took John. Stefan arrives. They go in Jeremy's bedroom.

Stefan asked Elena,"What happened?"

" He said that Anna gave him her blood and then he took this pills and now… I mean he looks fine but so do you. I just… I don't know." After they made sure he was okay, they went to the hospital to find out about Ellie and Caroline.

Elena and Stefan arrived at the hospital, she's with Bonnie.

"How's Caroline?"

Bonnie is in tears, full of guilt,"She's weak. They don't know if she's going to make it."

Bonnie embraces Elena. Damon is near her, he looks at them. He was close to killing the witch. It was her fault everything went wrong tonight.

"Is there something that we can do? Like a spell or something?"

Damon answered her," She doesn't know how, do you?"
Bonnie shook her head,"I can give Caroline some blood."

Elena quickly denied, thinking of her friend turning into a vampire,"No, no way"

"No, just enough to heal her, she will be safe in the hospital and it will be out of her system in a day, she will be better Elena."

Bonnie agreed with Damon ,even when she does not want to,"Do it. This is Caroline. We can't let her die. Do it." She walked away, not wanting to be next to the vampire any longer.

Elena gently put her hand on Damon's arm for comfort,"How is Ellie? We were so worried for her. So,vampire blood does not work for her."

Damon then informed her and Stefan,"She has inhaled a lot of smoke. And she has a concussion. She is going to be here for the next few days, until she can breathe normally again. She had to get a few stitches."

He went and sat in her hospital room. He is not taking chances with Katherine running rampant. Why the hell does vampire blood not work on her? He never gave her blood before. Is it because she was a fairy? He does not understand. And if she died, will she become a vampire or not? Or stay dead. It was like living a nightmare. His child might die and as a vampire he has to live on without her. Without her, his life had no purpose. She made him into the person he is today. He got his humanity back. Sure he still kills, but much less than in his past.

......

It was the next day, and she still hasn't woke up yet.

At the mayor's funeral,Katherine found her next target,"Of course you do. You're the best friend right? I've been putting all the pieces of Elena's life together. Isobel told me it was a bit of a puzzle. I do know who Jenna and Jeremy are and I met that delicious ex-boyfriend Matt, he was sweet on Caroline, and then there's you, the vampire-hating Bennett witch. Did I do good?"

Bonnie tries to get out but Katherine is faster than her. Bonnie looks at her and tries to hurt her with her powers. Katherine feigns to be hurt.

Katherine angerly said to her,"I've been around a long time Bonnie; you have to do better than that."

She catches Bonnie by the neck and pushes her against the wall. Her face changes, Bonnie open the doors with her powers, exposing them to the public.

"Nice." Stefan walked into the room and made sure Bonnie left.

Later that night,Damon heard a shallow gasp next to him and she opened her eyes. Her body felt like it was on fire. Every breath stings.

"Wh...what happened?"

Damon gently grabbed her hand and explained about the Gilbert device and the fire and Katherine's return . She let out a chuckle, struggling a bit,"So as soon as I get back in to town, everything went to sh*t."

"I am just glad you are okay. And there's one more thing. You are immune to vampire blood, that does not work."

"Oh...weird." She tried thinking of a reason why, but she came out blank.

"You have to go home and sleep and drink blood. I will be fine here. Okay."

Damon tried arguing with her, but at the end decided to go home for the night. He kissed her forehead and said goodnight before leaving.

Damon found Katherine at the Boarding house and they started talking,"Okay, brief pause. I have a question. Answer it and its back to fireworks and rockets wire glare. Answer it right and I'll forget the last one hundred and forty five years that I spent missing you. I'll forget how much I loved you, I'll forget everything and we could start over. This could be our defining moment ‘cause we have the time, it's the beauty of eternity."

He touches her face and her hair. "I just need the truth, just once."

Katherine answered him truthfully,"Stop, I already know the question and its answer. The truth is… I've never loved you, it was always Stefan."

Damon felt his heart break a bit. He always was the second choice, until Ellie.

He decided to drink his problems away tonight. Blood or alcohol. Who cares?

Caroline is on the bed, sleeping. She wakes up and sees Katherine.

She looked at her confused,"Elena? What are you doing here?"

"My name is Katherine. I was hoping you could get the Salvatore's brothers a message for me. Game on."

She takes a pillow and puts it on Caroline's face, she suffocated her until she was dead. She confidently walked out of the room and went to visit the one person she does not have much detail on.
