JENNIE

"Jennie, are you listening to me?" my mother asks, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, sorry," I mumble, glancing over at Rosé, who's dealing with a panic attack.

"As I was saying," Jisoo's father continues, "the witches have warned us: we have less than a week before the war. The monsters are coming from the north, so you'll all be staying with Lisa in her kingdom."

"Are we even ready to win this?" Jisoo asks, worry clear in her voice. "Lisa hasn't unlocked her fairy form yet, and the guys haven't discovered their powers."

"It'll happen soon," I reassure her. "Nayeon said the guys will unlock their powers after we get ours, likely triggered when something happens to us."

~3 days later~

I groggily rolled out of bed, rubbing my eyes, still weighed down by sleep. An uneasy feeling gnawed at me, but I couldn't quite place why.

Suddenly, Lisa burst into my room, flicking on the lights. "Turn them off," Taehyung groaned, burying his face deeper into his pillow. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, sprawled out on his stomach.

"Unnie, I need your help!" Lisa spoke so fast it was hard to keep up. "My mom said I need clothes for fighting." She paused, catching her breath after what felt like a rushed monologue. "So... I wanted to ask what I should wear?" She finally exhaled, like she'd just finished a rap.

"Oh right, you still can't transform," I said, sitting down on the bed beside Taehyung's sleeping figure. "Wear something tight, like a bodysuit."

"Wait, before you head out," I added, a teasing tone creeping into my voice, "when are you and Jungkook becoming a thing?"

"Ugh," Lisa groaned, her frustration evident. "Like, never! He's so annoying I can barely stand to be around him." Despite her words, a faint blush crept onto her cheeks.

"But you like him, don't you?" I teased, unable to resist.

Lisa let out a deep sigh and turned on her heel, walking out of the room without answering. But the silence spoke volumes—she didn't say no.

It had been a few days since we moved into Lisa's home temporarily. We were told that enemy forces were gathering in the north, which was why we had to stay here.

As I was getting ready for the day, a sudden loud explosion rattled the windows, followed by the blaring of alarms. My heart raced as the reality of the situation crashed over me. There was no time to process everything, but one thing was clear: the war had begun.
