—Minor's POV—
I waited in a musty alley of Bangkok. I leaned against a graffitied crumbling brick wall, music blasted into my ears from my headphones. How long is our asset gonna be here? My patience started to trickle as I spun my dagger in my fingers. Madie.... My thoughts always returned to her lovely face, I almost kissed her. If I was human, I am pretty sure my face would've flushed fully red. She's safe...but I can't help it but think about her.... I wonder if she likes daggers or something. NO! Focus on the asset Minor! I scolded myself. I let out an annoyed huff, startling some chubby rats. They scattered away, or they would've if they didn't got their tiny heads sliced off. One of the rat's head rolled over to my feet, revealing a disarray of wires. The asset had arrived, in a dramatic manner of landing neatly onto the cracked surface.
His head was in a capped black pen thing, he wore a pretty tight midnight suit. On his belt hung some ammunition for his pistol which swung. His fingers were coated with some thin cloth gloves. Basically he's all black from head to toe, except the simple silver wired bracelet with a green jade embedded in the middle. I wonder why he wears that all the time.... Don't poke into people business Minor! I shook my head and focused harder on the suit, I can't help but notice how his suit colour ripples as he moves.
"Invisible Inkman." I greeted him.
He did a bow, "Greetings General Minor. Or do you prefer me to call you Chief?"
I raised my hand up, "No need for titles. What is it you wanna report?"
I watched him rise up and straightened his back, "There has been some agitated activity near the borders of France... 'humans' dressed in medieval armour attacking our troops crying phrases 'For Blackrock' or 'Long live the King'. "
He watched me raised my eye in skepticism, "Really?" I asked. Insane humans.... Well Madie is an exception—STAY FOCUS YOU DUMB BITCH!
"Ahem." My attention turned to our agent, "I can't help but notice you are thinking about something else..."
Quickly, I looked away. Stupid man.... "The name 'Blackrock' rings a bell." That was true. The name sounded familiar... I can't place my finger on it.
"Permission to check the source?" Invisible Inkman asked.
I remained silent, thinking thoughtfully. "Permission granted. Do not, I repeat, do not cause any conflict."
"I won't." He said before doing side wall jumps and whisking away. Darn these agents are too awesome...
—Maisie's POV—
...
I was 5 years old, scrambling through the cold hallways of my father's new place. Banners with the logo of a white snowflake, wavered on the dull grey bricks. Wow. I can't believe my dad designed this place! He's so awesome. The red carpeting on the stony floor prevented me from slipping as I skipped past looming statues of sentinels. This is supposed to be the castle where the main hero faced off against a king, who turned his kingdom into an icy wasteland. I know this is a simulation but it's so real! For ages I wanted to be the hero of Daddy's spun tales and now I am! I giggled and tripped over an uneven fold, a pair of arms caught me. I was lifted up on my feet, I turned to face Lucky.
"Thanks Lucky!" I warbled with joy as I headed for the throne room, where Daddy's fantasy hero faced off the king. "Let's go kick some butt!"
Lucky beeped and chased after the speeding young me. Wait. I looked at my own teenage hands. Whoa what's happening? I watched as both young me and Lucky charged towards some holograms of fake soldiers in medieval armour. A sense of unsureness settled on me. I turned to see my dad.
