I decided to tryout for quidditch this year. I've played many times. I just don't know what position. I mean, I know Harry is seeker and Ron will tryout for keeper. I like being a chaser but I also like being a beater. I may not look like much, but I can hit a bludger pretty hard and far.
I sat with Seamus and Neville in the morning. I ate some pancakes. "What position are you going to try out for?" Seamus asked me.
"Beater." I smiled.
"Well, you are strong." Neville said. "Good luck."
"Thanks Neville." I smiled.
"You should tryout for both beater and chaser." Seamus suggested.
I gave Seamus a look, "you have no faith in me, Seamus? Don't think I'm good enough for beater?"
Seamus's eyes widen, "no! That's not what I meant! I was just saying, so you have more of a chance in being on the team and you can be a substitute for either position."
I laughed, "I was joking, Seamus. But you're right. Maybe I will. If Harry lets me."
"Well, good luck. We'll be watching you." Seamus smiled.
Everyone who was trying out went to the quidditch pitch while a couple other people sat in the stands to watch. I was wearing light quidditch gear and stood next to Ron while everyone else was messing around with the equipment. "Don't be so tense, Ron." I laughed a little. "You'll be fine. Besides, you have Hermione who will be cheering you on." I winked. He glared at me.
"Okay, so this morning," Harry started to talk but no one listened. "I'm gonna be putting you all for a few drills just to assess you straight. Quiet, please!" Harry failed to shut everyone up.
"Shut up!" I yelled loudly. That shut everyone up.
"Thanks." Harry shot me a smile. "Alright, um, now then, remember, just because you made the team last year does not guarantee you a spot this year. Is that clear?" No one said anything. "Good."
Cormac walked up to Ron and I and pat Ron's back. "No hard feelings, Weasley, alright?"
"Hard feelings?" Ron asked.
"Yeah, I'll be going out for Keeper's, well, It's... nothing personal." I scoffed causing Cormac to glare at me.
"Really? Such a big guy like you You've got more of a Beater's build, don't you think?" Ron said.
"Even if you were trying out for beater," I said. "I'll still beat your ass." I smiled sweetly.
"Keepers need to be quick, agile." Ron said. I smiled at him.
"I'll have my chances." Cormac caught a fly in his hand. Damn. "Say, um, you think you could introduce me to your friend, Granger? Wouldn't mind, eh, getting on a first-hand base, you know what I mean?"
I snorted, "she doesn't like cocky pricks like you, Cormac. So don't even try to get with her."
"Yeah, Riddle?" Cormac said. I clenched my fists when he called me Riddle. "No one likes a stupid prude like you especially if they're the Dark Lord's daughter."
My jaw dropped. "You are so getting it now." I punched Cormac square in the face. I went to punch him again but Ron grabbed me and tried to pull me away. "Let go Ron!" I growled.
"Ember stop it!" Ron said. "Harry! A little help!"
Harry ran over and stood between Cormac and I. "What's going on?"
"He called me a stupid prude and he brought Voldemort into this!" I glared at Cormac who had a bruise forming on his right cheek.
"She started it." Cormac rolled his eyes.
"Let's just play some quidditch alright?" Harry said. "Starting with chasers shooting while keepers try to block them. Beaters will be focused on the bludger. I will let out four bludgers. So watch out." Harry glanced over at Ron, Ginny and I.
I mounded my broom and flew up into the air. I held my bat and watch everyone fly around the pitch. Ron and Cormac were the only ones going for keeper. Everyone else was after chaser. Four people are after beater. I watched as Ginny zoomed through everyone. Ginny is amazing at quidditch. Well she has to be, it runs in the family. I saw a bludger going after her. I leaned forward and flew towards it. I swung my bat as hard as I could and hit the bludger towards Cormac's post. It flew right through the middle post. I laughed and cheered. Cormac sent me a glare because the bludger almost hit him. I sent him a smirk and flew around the pitch hitting bludgers. "Go Ron!" I cheered. I gasped as Ron almost fell off his broom. "Come on, come on." Ron pulled him self up and we all cheered. Ron blocked a lot of quaffles. I know he will get the spot.
Once tryouts ended, I flew down and ran up to Ron. "You were bloody brilliant." I smiled and gave him a high five.
"So were you, Ember." Ron smiled.
I looked at Ginny, "you were wicked out there, Gin."
"You were too!" Ginny grinned. "You scored a bunch of timed using a bludger. I know you'll get the spot." I smiled at her.
We all head back to the common room. I went to my dorm and took a shower. I got dressed and went to the common room. I sat down on the floor next to Harry. Ron and Hermione sat on the couch.
"I have to admit I thought I was going to miss that last one." Ron smirked. He's getting a bit cocky. "I hope Cormac's not taking it too hard. He's got a bit of a thing for you, Hermione-- Cormac."
"He's vile." Hermione said as she read the prophet.
"Have you ever heard of the spell: Sectumsempra?" Harry held up the potion book. He is obsessed with that book. It's just a textbook. I shook my head.
"No, I haven't." Hermione said. "If you had a shred of self-respect, you'd hand that book in."
"Not bloody likely." Ron laughed. "He's top of the class. He's even better than you, both of you." I rolled my eyes. "Slughorn thinks he's a genius."
"I'd like to know who's that book was. Let's have a look, shall we?" Hermione went to grab the book but Harry moved it out of her reach.
"No." Harry stood up.
"Why not?" Hermione asked. I stood up.
"The binding is fragile." Harry said.
""The binding is fragile"?" I mocked.
"Yeah." Harry said and backed away.
Ginny was behind him. She snatched the book and moved away. "Who's the Half-Blood Prince?" Ginny asked as.
"Who?" Hermione questioned.
"That's what it says right here. This book is property of the Half-Blood Prince." Ginny closed the book and tossed it to Harry. Harry caught it and walked up to the dormitories.
"Who the rudy is The Half Blood Prince?" I asked.
"No idea." Hermione said. "I'm going to the-"
"Library." I cut in. "Have fun." Hermione rolled her eyes and smiled. She left the common room.
I jumped over the couch and sat next to Ron. "Ron?"
"Yeah?" He asked.
"I'm bored." I whined.
"Hi Bored. I'm Ron Weasley." Ron said.
I gave him a look. "Ron."
"That's my name." He smiled.
I groaned, "you're so annoying."
"Look who's talking." He laughed.
"Hey, Ember." Seamus walked over.
"Hey, Seamus." I said.
"You were brilliant out there." Seamus smiled.
I smiled back, "thanks Seamus."
"Want to hang out later?" He asked.
I nodded, "yeah sure."
"Cool." He grinned. "Meet me at the black lake tomorrow? Neville wants to hang out too if you don't mind."
"Not at all." I smiled.
Seamus smiled, "see you later." He walked over to Dean and Ginny.
Ron gave me a look, "what's going on between you and Seamus?"
"Nothing, why?" I asked.
"He practically asked you out." Ron said.
"Neville is going." I pointed out.
"He fancies you, Seamus." Ron said.
"We're just friends." I told him.
"He doesn't think of it that way." Ron said. "Remember in out 4th year? He asked you out."
"That was in 4th year, Ron." I said.
"He fancies you." He said.
"Okay, Ron." I laughed.
Ron studied my face and narrowed his eyes. "You fancy him too don't you?"
I scoffed, "no Ron. He's just a friend."
"Uh huh." Ron said unconvinced. "You fancy him."
I rolled my eyes, "well you fancy Hermione."
"I do not!" Ron exclaimed. "Don't try to change the subject. You didn't deny it."
"Give it a rest, Ron. I don't want to date anyone anyways so it doesn't matter."
Ron smirked, "you still didn't deny it."
I rolled my eyes, "I'll see you tomorrow, Ron." I ruffled his hair and went to my dorm.-
I went to the Black Lake. I was wearing jeans, long sleeves, boots, a coat and scarf. It was getting colder now. Winter is on its way. I saw Seamus by a tree. I walked over, "hey."
He turned around and smiled. "Hey."
"Where's Neville?" I asked.
"He said he'll be here. He lost his coat." Seamus explained.
I nodded, "okay. So what do you want to do?"
He shrugged, "don't know."
I smiled, "play in the leaves?"
"You're so childish." Seamus laughed.
"You know you want to!" I sang. I started to push a bunch of leaves into a pile. I turned to Seamus, "are you going to help?" Seamus laughed and helped me make a big pile.
I heard a snobbish laugh. "Watch where you're going Longbottom!" I turned and saw Crabbe, Goyle, and Parkinson pushing Neville around. Draco was with them too.
"Hey! Stop it!" I yelled. I stomped over and shoved Goyle back. "What the hell are you guys doing?"
"Mind your own business, Riddle." Parkinson spat. Seamus joined us.
"Mind your attitude, Parkinson." I spat out, you can just hear every drop of venom in my voice. "Leave Neville alone."
"Or what?" Parkinson stood in front of me.
I was taller than her. I towered over her. "Or I will beat your face in."
"Draco won't let you do that." Parkinson smirked. "Right Draco?"
Draco nodded, "I won't let anyone hurt you, Pansy." Something in me broke.
I pulled Neville away, "are you okay?"
He nodded, "yeah. Thanks."
I smiled at him. I turned back to the Slytherins. "If you go anywhere near my friends, I will make sure you regret the day you were born."
"I'm not afraid of you," Parkinson growled.
"Neither are we." Crabbe said.
I laughed, "really?" I went to punch Crabbe, but he cowered away. I stopped and laughed, "that's what I thought. So just leave us alone."
Parkinson smirked, "come on Draco. We can go somewhere private." Draco smiled and walked away with Parkinson. I frowned. Crabbe and Goyle walked off.
"Are you alright, Ember?" Seamus asked.
I nodded, "yeah. I'm fine. Let's get back to the leaves." I ran back to our pile of leaves and added more.
"What exactly are we doing?" Neville asked as he added more leaves.
"Making a big pile. Then..... We jump in it!" I grinned. We made the pile big enough, with the help of magic, and then we all ran and jumped into it. We all started laughing and throwing the leaves at each other.
Neville and Seamus talked a lot. I was a bit quiet for the most part. "Hey Neville." Seamus said.
"Yeah?" Neville asked.
"Maybe you should change. You're scratching yourself a lot." Seamus said.
Neville scratched his neck. "You're probably right. See you guys later." Neville ran back to the castle.
"You got a lot leaves in your hair." Seamus said and pulled a leaf out from my hair.
"Yeah." I said and started to pick some leaves out.
"Are you okay?" Seamus asked.
"Never better." I smiled.
Seamus didn't look convinced. "Are you sure? You seem a bit off."
"Can you blame me? With everything going on." I said.
"Yes but, you were fine earlier until Parkinson and Malfoy came." Seamus pointed out.
I sighed, "I don't know."
"Sure you do." Seamus rubbed my back. "You can say what ever is on your mind. I'll listen."
I looked at Seamus. I studied his face. His sandy brown hair was pushed up, his eyes were sapphire blue. "It's just that, I'm a bit confused about Draco."
Seamus frowned, "why?"
"I loved him." I said. "I loved him so much. But, he hurt me so many times. I don't know why I went back with him. There's just something about him that pulls me to him. I remember everything we've been through and I don't want to feel this way anymore. We're not together anymore. He's with Parkinson. I feel like I want to be with Draco but then, I don't want to get hurt again. No matter what the reason is. I just don't want to hurt anymore."
Seamus hugged me. "It's okay. You deserve someone who will care for you no matter what. Someone who would never dream about hurting you. You deserve so much more than this."
"More than Draco?" I questioned.
"If he's hurting you the way you say he is, then yes you deserve more than him. He doesn't deserve you, Ember." Seamus said. "You should be treated like a princess. You should be treated like you were the only girl in the world."
I bit my lip, "no one is that perfect, Seamus."
"You're right. No one is that perfect. But, they can try." Seamus pulled me close and pressed his lips against mine. He pulled away and looked at me a little scared. I was a little shocked. I looked at him for a second, then I wrap my arms around his neck loosely and kissed him. Seamus smiled under the kiss. I pulled away and looked at him. I bit my lip. Seamus rest his forehead on mine. "Will you be mine, Ember?" He asked softly. "I promise I will treat you the way you deserve to be treated. I will never hurt you."
I looked into his eyes. I nodded slowly. "Yes." Seamus smiled and kissed me again.
