When I went back to the Burrow, Remus basically chewed my head off. He yelled at me for leaving and asked where I went. I just ignored him and went inside the tent that they had set up. I sat down next to George on his bed and rest my head on his shoulder. "Are you going to tell me where you been and why you look so tired?" George asked quietly.
I sighed, "tomorrow."
George put his arm around me and kissed my head. "Harmony needs you. She's with Harry."
I got up slowly, it really hurt to move but I ignored it. I went over to Harry and Harmony. "Hi."
Harry looked at me in relief. "Where have you been?"
I shook my head, "doesn't matter. Come on, Harmony. Time to get some sleep, it's been a long night."
Harmony hugged Harry then grabbed my hand. We went to our bed and I laid down. I took a deep breath. Harmony laid down next to me, "Mummy, are you okay?"
I nodded, "I'm fine. I'm just a bit upset with what happened and I'm really tired."
"Why did they do that?" Harmony asked.
I rolled onto my side and stroked Harmony's hair. "Bad things will happen, Harmony. There are bad people out there."
"Death Eaters." Harmony said.
"Yes, Death Eaters. But what I want you to know is that you will alway be safe. You know who to trust, don't you?"
Harmony nodded. "Yes, Mummy."
"If you feel like something is wrong, don't ignore it. Do something about it. Don't be scared because I know you are brave enough to do anything. You are brave enough to stand up for what you believe in."
"I'm not scared." Harmony said.
I smiled, "good. Just remember, Harms. The world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters. We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are and I know you'll do the right thing."
She smiled and kissed my cheek. "I love you, Mummy."
"I love you too sweetheart."
She pouted. "Muuummmm. Don't call me sweetheart."
I chuckled softly. "Sorry, Love." I stroked her hair again. She giggled and snuggled into my arms. I pulled her close and whispered. "Be brave for me."The next day, everyone was already busy with rebuilding the Burrow. Ron had Harmony help him get rid of the garden gnomes with Ginny and Harry. I went to help clear out the burned wood. George joined me, we were a bit away from everyone else. "So...."
I sighed. "George, I can't tell you. I swore to Dumbledore that I wouldn't tell anyone. Even if he did let me tell you everything, I'm afraid that if I do tell you.... You'll hate me forever."
"You know that I would never hate you." George said. "You're my best friend, Ember."
I sighed, "I know. But... I really screwed up this time. I mean I have a really good reason for what I did but...."
"If you have a good reason for doing it then I'm sure I'll understand." George said. "You don't have to tell me. But remember, if you're ever in trouble. I'm always here for you. So is everyone else here."
I looked at George. "The Order wants me to be a spy for them."
He gave me a weird look. "As in... Spy on You know who?" I nodded slowly. George frowned. "They already have Snape to do that! Why do they need another person to do that? Why would they make you do that after what you've been through?! It's completely mental!"
"I know it is." I muttered.
"Are you going to do it?" George questioned. I looked away and picked up a few burned books. "You already have, haven't you?" I didn't reply, I was afraid to look at him. George grabbed my hand. "Ember." I slowly looked up at him. "Tell me you're not one."
I pulled my arm away. "It doesn't matter. I'm loyal to Dumbledore, to Harry, to the Order. That's all that matters doesn't it? I want Him dead. I will do anything to help the Order and Harry. I would die for them."
"Ember." George said sternly. "Are you one of them?"
"Yes." I said quietly as tears began to roll down my cheeks. "I'm sorry. I had to do it. Dumbledore told me to and you know who threatened to kill all of you."
George pulled me into his arms. "You're still the same old Ember."
I pulled away, "really? Even for who I am? For what I've done."
"Like what you said to Harmony last night, 'the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters. We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are and I know you'll do the right thing.'"
I sighed. "I am trying to the right thing. It just scares me sometimes."
"It'll be okay, I promise." George said.
"How do you know?" I questioned. "I have the stupid mark on my arm. Harry will never forgive me. Neither will Ron or Hermione. Worst of all, Harmony."
"Does Lupin know? What about Tonks, or my parents." George questioned.
"They all know." I replied.
"See, they still trust you because they know you'll do the right thing. They've known you for a long time and would do anything for you. Mum and Dad treats you like you're their daughter. So does Lupin."
I sighed, "I guess you're right. But please don't tell anyone. Not even Fred."
George nodded, "I won't tell anyone. I promise."
"Thanks, Georgie. For everything."
He smiled. "I'm here for you. I just want to say that you should at least tell Harry. He has a right to know."
"I will. Eventually." I trailed off.
"Well, don't wait until it's too late. Alright?"
I nodded, "okay."
