There you were, standing in front of him, raindrops running down your face. Your hair was drenched, your clothes were as well.
He walked closer to you until your bodies were inches apart. "I'm not leaving you. You can scream, punch me, say hurtful things. But I'm not leaving you"
Even more tears started forming in your eyes. You needed space and he wouldn't allow it. "Why can't you just leave!"
You weakly hit his chest, multiple times, letting the tears finally fall. You couldn't breathe anymore.
You were shivering, your face planted in hurt.
Why the hell did love in the wake of a broken relationship have to be so painful? Why couldn't two wounded people just heal each other?
They say that you'll never know how damaged a person is until you try to love them. And that's true. You both were a mess, for different reasons, too hurt to even understand you were slowly killing what you erroneously called love.
He grabbed your wrists, stopping you from hitting him. Your cry echoed in the street. He hated that, you knew it. It hurt him to see you like that.
"Please" you sob.
He lifted your chin, making you look at him.
Before you could say anything else, he wrapped his arms around you, holding your body close to his. The embrace was so comforting, you felt safe and loved again after a long time.
You had always felt like that around him. And it was so right even if it felt so wrong.
"We will fix this. We will fix us" he promised, his voice a sorrowful whisper.
You melted in the hug even if you knew that in the end, you would have got hurt once again.
But all you needed then was him.
