The conference room was quiet except for the soft hum of the projector and the occasional scribble of pen on paper. You sat across from Spencer, your chin propped on your hand as you watched him explain the finer details of the unsub's profile to the team.

"... And if you take into account the geographical profiling data alongside the behavioral markers, it becomes evident that the unsub isn't just operating out of convenience" Spencer said, gesturing to the map on the screen. "It's actually more about establishing dominance in areas that align with-"

He paused, his brow furrowing. "Wait, sorry, I lost track. Where was I?"

"Establishing dominance" you offered with a smile.

"Right, right!" he said, snapping his fingers. "So, establishing dominance in areas that align with their sense of personal significance, which means they're likely tied to these locations through-"

He kept going, his words spilling out in a torrent. You could see the spark in his eyes, the way he lit up when he got lost in the intricacies of the case.

But soon enough, the officer chief of the police station cleared his throat. "Kid, maybe take a breath?"

Spencer froze mid-sentence, his mouth slightly open. His cheeks flushed pink as he glanced around the room, suddenly self-conscious. "Oh. Sorry. I didn't mean to-"

"You're fine" you said quickly, cutting him off before he could spiral. "It's fascinating. Keep going"

He looked at you, his expression softening. "You think so?"

"Absolutely" you said sincerely. "I mean, you've already figured out things most of us would've missed. Why wouldn't I want to hear more?"

The pink in his cheeks deepened, but this time, it wasn't from embarrassment. He ducked his head slightly, a shy smile tugging at his lips.

"Well, in that case..." he said, his voice quieter but laced with gratitude. He turned back to the map, picking up where he left off, and you couldn't help but smile to yourself.

Spencer Reid might ramble, but you wouldn't want him any other way.
