You never imagined that the shadows you chase every day would one day reach out to touch you. But they did, and at that moment, everything changed.
Working as a profiler for the FBI it's a job that demands every ounce of intuition, observation, and courage one can muster. But you thrive in the challenge, navigating the darkest recesses of the human mind to bring justice to those who thought they could evade it. You have to trust yourself and also the people you work with. You found family in your coworkers but also the love of your life. So, later on, your boss became your husband. Some might say it's complicated, but for the two of you, it's a partnership forged in the crucible of shared experiences, victories, and losses. You understood each other in ways words couldn't capture, a silent bond woven through years of facing the unthinkable together.
On that fateful day, your team was hot on the trail of an Unsub, a particularly elusive and dangerous individual who had been terrorizing the city with a string of brutal murders. You had finally narrowed down his location, and adrenaline surged through your veins as you prepared to confront the darkness head-on.
As you closed in on the suspect's hideout, tension crackled in the air like electricity. You knew the risks, but you also knew that failure was not an option. You and Aaron exchanged a brief, silent glance, a silent reassurance that spoke volumes in the chaos of the moment.
But then, everything went wrong.
In the confusion of the raid, your team was forced to split up, each of you chasing shadows in the labyrinthine corridors of the abandoned warehouse. You found yourself alone, heart pounding in your chest as you navigated the maze of darkness, every sense on high alert.
And then, without warning, he was there. The Unsub emerged from the shadows like a specter, a knife glinting malevolently in the dim light. Instinct took over, and you moved to intercept him, but he was faster, his blade slashing through the air with deadly precision.
Pain exploded in your abdomen, white-hot and searing, as the world tilted and spun around you. You staggered back, clutching at the wound, but it was already too late. Darkness closed in around the edges of your vision, and you knew you were falling, falling into the abyss.
Just as you were about to surrender to the void, strong arms caught you, pulling you back from the brink. Through the haze of pain and confusion, you heard Aaron's voice, distant but filled with a desperate urgency that cut through the fog in your mind.
"Y/N, stay with me. You're going to be okay. I won't let you go" he whispered, pressing on your wound.
You hissed, the air caught in your throat, and felt your head being lifted.
You blinked and caught a glimpse of Derek. "Stay with us pretty girl" he said, his fingers gently stroking your hair.
But then, mercifully, oblivion claimed you.
When you finally awoke, it was to the harsh glare of hospital lights and the steady beep of machines monitoring your vital signs. Your body felt heavy and sluggish, every movement sending a jolt of pain lancing through you. When you finally managed to turn your head, you saw him there, in a half-sleeping state sitting by your bedside with eyes red-rimmed from exhaustion and worry.
"Aaron" you whispered, your voice barely more than a croak.
His head snapped up, and for a moment, nothing but the raw intensity of emotion passed between the two of you. Then, in a rush of movement, he was there, taking your hand in his with a tenderness that spoke volumes.
"You're awake" he breathed, his voice thick with emotion. "Thank God, you're awake"
Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes as you squeezed his hand, the weight of what you had narrowly escaped crashing down on you like a tidal wave. But at that moment, as you clung to each other in the stark fluorescence of the hospital room, you knew that no matter what dangers you faced, you would always have Aaron by your side, ready to save you and hold your hand through it all.
