"If you said you missed me," he started, his voice barely above a whisper, "And I told you I missed you too, do you think we could do it over again?"

You looked at him, his gaze searching yours for an answer. Memories flooded back, of shared laughter and stolen moments, of whispered confessions and promises made in the darkness of the night.

"I think so," you replied softly, a hint of uncertainty lacing your words, "We could relearn each other's names and you could tell me about your hobbies. I could get bored of your stories all over again and you could get mad like you always used to"

There was a pause, a heavy silence hanging in the air between you two as you stood under the pouring rain just outside the hotel, your bodies pressed close together.

But suddenly, at that moment, you couldn't take it anymore. You wanted more, you wanted more than just looks and brushes of arms and legs when you walked past each other. You wanted to taste his neck and his cheeks again. You wanted to run your hand through his hair and feel the electricity of love rush through you as the two of you lay in bed at night. You wanted to pull him in and never let him go.

"Kiss me," you whispered, the words barely audible above the sound of the water cascading around you, "Please"

And that was all it took for him to kiss you, his lips meeting yours with a fervor that stole your breath away. It was a kiss like every fiber of your being was dying, like it was the first time it ever happened. His lips were soft yet urgent against yours, igniting a fire within you that burned brighter with each passing second.

He was your medicine. And oh, it did feel like it, because as everything seemed to stop around you two, you were more alive. You felt stronger, happier, and you felt at home. His arms felt like home and damn, you never wanted to leave home again.

So your lips joined, and for the next moments, you kissed like you'd never see each other again. It was a kiss filled with longing and desire, with months of pent-up emotions finally being released. And in that fleeting moment, you knew that he was the one that got away, but he was also the one you never wanted to let go of again.
