As Engfa's car finally appeared, Charlotte held her breath. But the peace only lasted a second. When Engfa stepped out of the car, Charlotte suddenly noticed Dan-Engfa's ex-supporting her out of the car with a familiar gesture. A surge of jealousy flared in Charlotte's heart, and her initial worry now turned into uncontrollable anger."Why would she let Dan support her like that? Is there something between them that I don't know about?" Charlotte wondered, her gaze turning icy.
She stood there, feeling as though the whole world had stopped. Dan flashed a bright smile while Engfa looked slightly unsteady. Charlotte couldn't stay still; she stepped out from her hiding spot, determined to get to the bottom of this.
• "Sister Engfa!" Charlotte called out loudly, trying to keep her tone from sounding too harsh.
Engfa turned around, her face showing confusion.
• "Charlotte? You're still up?" She was a bit surprised to see her lover waiting.
• "Why didn't you text me? I was so worried about you," Charlotte said, trying not to let the jealousy slip into her voice.
Dan, standing nearby, felt uncomfortable with the situation.
• "I'm sorry; I was just giving Engfa a ride home. She had a bit to drink and needed someone to help her," Dan explained.
• "Thank you for bringing Engfa home, Dan!" Charlotte said gently.
Sensing the tension building, Dan decided to excuse herself.
• "I'll take my leave now. Goodnight to you both." Dan quickly left, leaving Engfa and Charlotte in a stifling atmosphere.
Once Dan was out of sight, the two went inside. Charlotte and Engfa stood facing each other, neither speaking for a long time. Worry and jealousy hung in the air, making both of them feel heavy. The room's atmosphere was thick with tension, broken only by Charlotte's heavy breathing.
• "Do you know what I saw, Engfa?" Charlotte walked swiftly toward Engfa, her voice as sharp as a knife.
Engfa sighed, trying to stay calm in the face of Charlotte's anger.
• "Charlotte, you're misunderstanding. Dan just happened to give me a ride after a client meeting..."
Charlotte felt as if a knife had stabbed her heart at hearing that.
• "Really? Did you need someone to lean on, or a friend to guide you into their arms?" Charlotte asked, unable to hold back the sarcasm in her tone.
Engfa quickly realized the tension between them.
• "Please don't be like this. It's not what you think. Dan was only helping me," Engfa said gently but with a hint of pleading.
Charlotte's jealousy and anger grew. She didn't know how to respond; her fury swirled inside her.
• "Did you need to rely on Dan in my absence?" Charlotte asked, her words slicing through the air.
Engfa didn't know how to respond, but she felt her own frustration growing.
• "You're overthinking everything! You know I've already left the past with Dan behind." Engfa's tone became tense.
• "Left behind? Engfa, who embraces someone they've left behind like you just did?" Charlotte's face was colder than usual.
Charlotte couldn't contain herself any longer, and her anger burned like a raging fire.
• "Are you lying to me? I saw you and Dan embracing at the door! Have you deceived me to this extent? Has it really come to this?"
