After a satisfying meal, it was quite late. Engfa drove Tif and Tina home first. When it was their turn to return to their cozy house, Engfa and Charlotte held hands as they walked in. The automatic lights turned on as they entered, illuminating the small but tidy and familiar space.Engfa looked around the house with loving eyes. She was so accustomed to this place that her own room was almost entirely vacant. Every time, she found trivial reasons to spend the night in Charlotte's room. Although she was a perceptive girl, Charlotte always accepted these "reasons," sensing the warmth Engfa brought, yet she never voiced any doubt.
After entering the house, Charlotte hurried to shower out of habit. She gently pinched Engfa's cheek and reminded her:
"Go take a shower quickly, it's late, and you might catch a cold if you delay."
Engfa mischievously frowned, pretending to sulk:
"Who told you to shower first? I should be the one prioritized."
Charlotte merely smiled, looking like a gentle flower in this space. Engfa watched her figure disappear into the bathroom, suddenly feeling an indescribable warmth of happiness.
When Charlotte finished showering, she returned with her hair still damp, the familiar scent of her perfume lingering in the air. Engfa stood up from her chair, walked over, and gently dried Charlotte's hair with a towel, whispering:
"You always smell so good."
Charlotte chuckled softly, leaning closer, resting her head on Engfa's shoulder, and they stood silently in that peaceful moment.
That evening, after both had finished showering, they climbed into bed together. Engfa gently wrapped her arms around Charlotte, carefully pulling the blanket up to create a warm cocoon. Charlotte rested her head on Engfa's chest; they didn't need to say anything, just listening to each other's steady heartbeats.
Engfa kissed Charlotte's forehead lightly, tenderly saying:
"Good night, my love."
Charlotte closed her eyes and smiled:
"Good night, Engfa."
Outside, the rain still fell gently, raindrops tapping softly against the window, creating a soothing lullaby for the night. They both drifted off to sleep, feeling the peace and warmth they were lucky to find together amidst the bustling and tumultuous city.
A week passed by with a hectic work rhythm; Charlotte was busy with documents, reports, and continuous meetings, having no time to breathe. Her eyes, though tired, sparkled every time she thought about finishing work and seeing Engfa waiting for her in the parking lot.
For Engfa, this week was no easier as she had to manage her rapidly growing company, EL. The first export shipment of EL had just succeeded beyond expectations, giving Engfa even more motivation and joy.
Every evening, after a busy day, Engfa patiently waited to welcome Charlotte home, not minding the time spent waiting. On the way home, Engfa would eagerly share her amusing stories with Charlotte, sometimes about trivial work matters or everyday anecdotes that made Charlotte chuckle softly, sometimes bursting into laughter, dissipating the fatigue of the long day.
"Did you know, today the new assistant tried making coffee for me... oh my, he forgot the milk, it was so bitter that I had to drink a glass of water right after to rescue myself!" Engfa laughed while driving, her other hand instinctively stroking Charlotte's hand.
Charlotte smiled sweetly, resting her head on Engfa's shoulder, her voice gentle:
"You've had it tough... having to manage the company every day and commuting back and forth; I just worry you'll wear yourself out."
