Chapter 7

(Cyanide's P.O.V)

I stood there and watch as the girl flew away.
"Hey come back here you coward!"
Chris screamed as he pulled out his sniper rifle and took aim. I placed a hand on his shoulder and shook my head.
"She's too far out of range."
He growled in frustration and put the sniper down and stormed off inside. I sighed and followed him inside, downstairs to the second floor, to see he was stuffing supplies into his bag.
"Dude, where are you going?"
I asked as I stood beside him.
"I'm going after her. I'm getting back that stuff she took."
I shook my head and grabbed the bag from him.
"Hey that's mine, give it-"
I cut him off before he could finish.
"That was probably her stuff anyways if this was their house. Chris, just let it go, she's gone and we need to prepare, for if those two come back. Ok?"
Chris sat silent for a few minutes and then sighed.
"Fine, I'll go see if I can set up some kind of security system."
With that, he trudged off down stairs. I sighed in relief, it usually took me a lot longer to calm him down. I needed to get some fresh air so I trudged down stairs and walked outside. Walking away from the house I headed into the nearby woods that was close to the house and just kind of relaxed.
Walking up to a nearby tree, I sat down and leaned my back against the tree. Why couldn't we just come here get the fossils and leave? Why does everything have to be so complicated? I thought to myself as I listen closely to the sound of the animals around me. It felt good to get outside after being cooped up inside over them cultivators. I heard footsteps nearby and looked up to see Chris heading in my direction.
"Hey, I'm sorry I was acting like a jerk back there. You know how my temper can get a hold of me sometimes."
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. I smiled and nodded.
"It's ok bro. I've learn to live with your attitude, but seriously what are we gonna do about that girl and her friend?"
I asked looking up to Chris, who just smile and tended shrugged.
"I don't, fight back I guess."
I smiled and nodded at his resonse.
"Because two can play at that game."
