Chapter 20

Carflo stood over the culptivators while I sat quietly at the table behind him, staring at the photo. I ran my fingers over the image and smiled.
'We looked so happy...'
"Valerie? Did you even hear what I said?"
I looked up to see Carflo standing over me.
"Oh uhh, sorry, I was just thinking..."
He sighed and slid into the seat next to me. He stuck out a hand.
"Come on, hand it over."
I placed the picture in his hand and helped placed it aside.
"You need to take a break, ok? You've been staring at this thing since you got up this morning."
I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.
"I know, I was just thinking that if I tried hard enough I could at least remeber something. It's just that this is a link to our past and I was hoping that eventually something would come to mind."
He tapped his fingers on his table and smiled. He got up and offered me a hand.
"Come on, we're going to go do something that will take your mind off this for a little while."
I took his hand and he helped me up. He then led me down to the armory, and started to rummage through a chest.
"What are we doing in the armory?"
"We are going to go for a raid, or just to cause chaos, over at the old base."
He tossed me a vest and I slipped it on. Going to grab my sword he stopped me.
"Nope, no swords. There are some guns in a chest over there."
He said pointing to a chest, that had been painted with a camouflage pattern, that sat in the corner. Makimg my way over to it I pushed open it's lid to see an arrangement to weopons; I grabbed my pistol and sniper. After putting my pistol in its holster and slinging the sniper over my shoulder, I turned to see Carflo pulling out a sniper.
"You ready?"
He asked seeing that I was done and I nodded. Together we exited the armory and climbed up the ladder that led outside. I petted Plum as I walked past and then launched myself into the air and morphed into a bat. Carflo followed my lead and together we flew through the air in the direction of the base. Several minutes later, Carflo squeaked.
'Let's land, they might see us if we fly to close.'
We glided down and landed on the branch of a tree. In the distance I could see the base barely through the treeline.
'So what's are plan if action?'
I squeaked looking at Carflo. He jumped off the branch and morphed midair, hitting the ground as himself.
"We should try something stealthy."
I followed his lead and hit the ground beside him in the form of a wolf.
'I say we go all out stealth on them.'
