Chapter 25

(Carflo's P.o.V)

I pushed open the door to Crimmers house and glanced around.
"Crimmer?"
"Back here!"
I heard him yell from the back room. I made my way to the back, to find him mixing herbs together.
"What can I help you with?"
He asked putting the mortar and pestle down as I took a seat at the table.
"Nothing, it's just... Have you seen Valerie?"
He shook his head.
"I'm sorry I haven't, is something wrong?"
I sighed and leaned back in the chair.
"Ever since the attack, she's been kinda distant."
Crimmer leaned against the wall and sighed.
"You know she hates losing..."
"Yeah, I know, it's just... different this time."
Crimmer shrugged and went back to mixing ingredients.
"Well then, I don't know what to tell you. I never could understand how that girl thinks."
I propped my head on my hand and glanced out the window.
It's been quiet lately....
I pushed myself up and stretched.
"I'm going out for a walk."
"Make sure not to push yourself!"
I heard Crimmer yell as I headed out the door.
Where could she be?
I thought as I walked along the path. I morphed into a bat and flew upwards to get an aerial view of the village.
Now where are you...
I finally spotted her along the wall. She was leaned against it, Plum laid beside her as she petted him.
There you are...
I glided down to the ground and morphed back to myself. I made my way to where she was and stopped when I got to her.
"Hey."
She looked up at me and then looked back down at the ground. I sighed and took a seat beside her.
"How you felling?"
She shrugged.
"I've been better..."
We sat there in silence. I stared off and looked across the village.
"Carflo?"
I looked over at Valerie.
"Are we the bad guys?"
I was taken back by her question.
"I used to think we were doing good by fighting them but so far, they've done nothing wrong...I almost killed Cyanide and something about that made me realize who we are.... The bad guys..."
I could see the tears streaming down her face. She pulled her knees to her chest and looked down.
"I'm a terrible person...I almost killed someone just so I could prove a point."

(Valerie's P.o.V)

"Valerie... you... You're not a terrible person!"
I was taken back by Carflo's sudden outburst. I looked up at him.
"You're smart, kind, fun to be around, and you are a good person. Actually, no you're a great person! Don't even think for a second that you're a terrible person because you are the greatest person I know!"
He placed a hand on my shoulder.
"And don't let anyone else tell you other wise."
He wiped a tear from my cheek and smiled.
"I can't afford to loose you."
I smiled and looked away, but he turned my head to face him and leaned forward, kissing me. I taken back for a second but then kissed back. When we pulled away, he smiled.
"Come on, let's go home."
He stood and offered me a hand. I took it and continued to hold it. As we walked along the path I looked over at him.
"So... are we a thing now?"
I asked out of curiosity. He chuckled.
"Do you want us to be?"
I smiled.
"I'd like us to be."
He stopped and smiled at me.
"Alright then, Valerie, would you like to be my partner in crime?"
I laughed and nodded.
"As long as I'm the mastermind."
"But aren't you always?"
We laughed as we continued to walk toward him, hand in hand.
