Wednesday was about to step into the classroom when her gaze caught sight of Enid standing in the hallway, her back against the wall, with Damon standing mere inches in front of her.

He leaned in slightly, his face uncomfortably close to hers, his hand casually resting on the wall beside her. Enid was laughing at something he said, her head tilted back, the sound light and genuine. It was a sight Wednesday found herself lingering on for a moment.

An odd sensation tightened in her chest, her fists clenching instinctively. She tore her gaze away, pushing the door open and striding into the classroom. She moved stiffly to her seat beside Tyler, who looked up as she sat down, immediately noticing the tension in her posture.

"You good?" he asked, glancing at her.

Wednesday's gaze flickered to the doorway just as Enid walked in, her smile still lingering as she took a seat beside Yoko. The sight of it made something twist uncomfortably within her.

"Yes, I'm fine," Wednesday replied curtly, attempting to regain her composure.

Tyler raised an eyebrow but said nothing, sensing her reluctance to talk further. Just then, Ms. Thornhill entered, drawing the class's attention as she made her way to the front.

"Alright, class, I have an announcement to make," she began, casting a glance around the room as she spoke. "We'll be going on a field trip this week."

Excited murmurs filled the room. Enid leaned forward, eyes sparkling with interest, while other students whispered among themselves.

Ms. Thornhill continued, "We'll be visiting 'Museo Immortalis.' It's an immersive history museum with some interactive exhibits, so I expect all of you to be on your best behavior."

The hum of interest grew louder. Even Wednesday's curiosity was piqued, and her face lit up.

"Interesting," she muttered, tapping her fingers on her desk thoughtfully.

Tyler, sitting beside her, gave a small, amused huff.

"Interesting?" he echoed, looking less than impressed. "I mean, it's just a museum. Unless they have, like, real mummies or cursed relics, I don't see the appeal."

Wednesday shot him a look. "That's exactly the appeal," she replied flatly. "History isn't just artifacts and documents. Museums hold pieces of the past that still breathe beneath the dust, each relic is a story waiting to be uncovered."

Tyler rolled his eyes but smirked. "Only you could make a museum sound like a cryptic novel."

Ms. Thornhill began her lesson, and Wednesday reluctantly shifted her focus, her eyes on the board but her thoughts lingering elsewhere.

She couldn't shake the image of Enid and Damon in the hallway, his proximity, her laughter. It was infuriating to her to say the least.

As class ended, the usual shuffle of books and footsteps filled the room as students gathered their things.

Wednesday kept her gaze forward, but the faintest flicker of movement caught her eye, as she glanced over to see Enid standing up, packing her bag, her usual lively energy radiating as she chatted with Yoko.

She waited a bit longer before getting up, trailing a few steps behind Enid as the students filed out of the room.

But her thoughts were interrupted when Tyler fell into step beside her, giving her a knowing look.

"You're still bothered that she's spending time with Damon, aren't you?"

Wednesday's face remained impassive. "No," she replied curtly, quickening her pace as they exited the classroom.
