Wednesday strolled down the hallway, her mind preoccupied, when her gaze landed on Tyler speaking with another student.

Their eyes met, and a hint of tension passed between them before she turned on her heel, hoping to avoid an interaction.

“Wednesday!” Tyler called out, his voice echoing through the corridor as he jogged to catch up with her.

She stopped, turning reluctantly just as he reached her, grabbing her wrist to keep her from bolting again.

“Look,” he began, voice hurried. “What happened to me and Ajax was… a mistake. It only happened once.”

Wednesday raised an eyebrow, her gaze cold. “You think I care because of that?”

“Then why are you avoiding me?” Tyler’s voice softened, a hint of hurt creeping in.

“Because you didn’t bother to tell me,” she replied coolly, crossing her arms. “You had every opportunity to be honest, and instead, you waited until it blew up in your face.”

Tyler sighed, scratching behind his head, his expression sheepish.

“I didn’t know how. I thought… maybe you’d be disappointed.”

“No wonder you’ve been acting strange. When I mentioned Ajax was after Enid, you seemed… bothered.” Her eyes narrowed as she looked him over. “There was something else, wasn’t there?”

He grimaced. “Wednesday…”

She narrowed her eyes. “I’ll start ignoring you again if you keep dodging the truth.”

Tyler sighed in defeat. “Fine. It didn’t happen just once. But… I thought it would mean something, you know? I ended up actually falling for him.” He looked down, his voice bitter. “Turns out, I was just another distraction to him. Nothing more.”

Wednesday let out an frustrated sigh. “Unbelievable. Both of you are falling for that…mediocre guy. He’s not even remotely worth it.”

Tyler looked up defensively. “He’s not all bad, Wednesday.”

She gave him an incredulous look. “Are you blind, or just choosing to ignore the way he treats you?”

Tyler opened his mouth to respond, but before he could speak, a voice cut through the hall.

“For the last time, Ajax, stop following me!”

Enid’s voice rang out as she marched down the hall, with Ajax trailing close behind her, pleading his case.

“Enid, please!” he begged. “Let me explain!”

“Explain?” Enid whirled around, her blue eyes blazing with anger. “There’s nothing left to explain. You betrayed me. You lied to me.”

“Just… give me one more chance,” Ajax implored, his voice almost desperate.

“Get lost,” she snapped.

As she turned to leave, Ajax’s gaze flicked toward Tyler and Wednesday. His face twisted with anger, and he stormed over to Tyler, grabbing him by the collar.

“This is all your fault!” he spat, his stare hardened with accusation.

Tyler didn’t back down, shoving his hands off him.

“My fault?” His voice was low, filled with anger. “You’re the one who used us. Made us look like fools.”

“Tyler.” Wednesday’s voice was a warning, her dark gaze steady as she watched him.
