Enid sat with her friends in the quad, her mind still reeling from everything that had happened with Damon.

Yoko, sitting beside her, shook her head in frustration.

“I seriously can’t believe Damon would pull something like that,” Yoko muttered. “What an absolute jerk.”

Enid shrugged, trying to mask the lingering hurt beneath a casual expression. “Guess I was just playdate for him,” she said, the bitterness slipping out.

“Oh, come on, don’t beat yourself up over it,” Kent chimed in, his face split in a wide grin. “But I have to admit, that slap you gave him? That was epic.”

Divina leaned forward with a mischievous smile, her voice lowered as if sharing a secret.

“Speaking of slaps… are you and Wednesday, you know, back together?”

Enid’s cheeks flushed immediately, and she shook her head quickly.

“What? No! No, we’re… we’re not back together.” Her voice wavered, the words feeling strange even as she said them.

Bianca raised an eyebrow, skeptical.

“Why not? Wednesday was there for you when you needed her most. She stood up to Damon, she comforted you… if that doesn’t scream ‘I still care about you,’ I don’t know what does.”

“I’m glad she helped me with Damon,” Enid admitted, looking down at the blades of grass she was absently tugging at. “But… after everything that happened with him, and what I went through, I don’t know if I’m ready to jump into anything. I need time to figure things out.”

Yoko patted her shoulder, her expression sympathetic. “That’s totally fair. Take your time, Enid. I’m sure Wednesday will understand.”

Enid nodded, though a flicker of doubt crept into her mind. “I hope so. It’s just… complicated.”

Bianca gave her a thoughtful look. “But don’t you think that you’d be happier with her?”

Enid hesitated, feeling the weight of their curious stares.

“I don’t know yet,” she said, her voice barely a whisper. “I thought I knew what I wanted, but now… everything feels so messy.”

Her friends exchanged glances, sensing the depth of her uncertainty.

They dropped the subject, shifting to lighter topics, and Enid forced herself to laugh along.

When classes finally wrapped up for the day, Enid gathered her things, moving slowly as her thoughts drifted back to Wednesday.

She noticed Wednesday standing near the front of the classroom with Tyler, the two of them speaking in hushed tones. Enid’s heart clenched, though she wasn’t sure if it was jealousy or something else entirely.

She narrowed her eyes as she saw Tyler drift over to Ajax, giving him a casual nudge as they headed toward the door together.

Wednesday sighed, watching Tyler and Ajax before turning to leave.

Enid quickly slung her bag over her shoulder and called after her. “Wednesday, wait up!”

Wednesday paused, turning to face her. “Yes?”

Enid gestured toward Tyler and Ajax, who were now walking down the hall together.

“What’s… what’s going on with them?” Her voice faltered, trying to sound casual but failing.

Wednesday’s eyes flicked toward the pair. “You mean Ajax and Tyler?”

“Yes.” Enid’s brow furrowed. “Why are they together?”
