Enid sat with Yoko, Bianca, Kent and Divina at their usual table, the sounds of their chatter buzzing around her. They were laughing and throwing in bits of conversation, but Enid wasn’t really paying attention.

Her mind was elsewhere, stuck on the moment she and Wednesday shared that day. The feel of Wednesday’s hand on her cheek, the way her breath had hitched when their faces were so close, had left her rattled.

She couldn’t explain why her heart had pounded so fast, or why she couldn’t stop thinking about it now.

"Enid." Yoko’s voice sliced through her thoughts, bringing her back to reality.

She blinked, looking up at her friend.

"Hm? What?" she asked, her voice distant, still caught between the past and present.

"You okay? You’ve been zoning out for like, ten minutes," Yoko said, leaning forward with a concerned look.

The others turned their heads, glancing at her with curiosity.

"I’m fine," Enid said quickly, trying to shake off her daze. She forced a smile, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes.

"Are you sure?" Bianca chimed in, raising an eyebrow. "You’ve been unusually quiet. It’s weird, even for you."

Yoko tilted her head, eyeing her more closely.

"Wait a second," she said, her lips curling into a teasing smile. "Wednesday did something to you, didn’t she?"

Enid’s cheeks flushed, and her eyes widened in surprise.

"What? No!" she replied too quickly, her voice shooting up an octave.

The group immediately perked up, sensing her defensiveness. Kent leaned back with a smirk.

"Ohhh, defensive. She’s totally lying."

"C’mon, girl. Spill," Bianca encouraged, grinning. "Something happened, didn’t it?"

Enid sighed heavily, realizing there was no escape from their probing questions.

"Okay, fine," she muttered, running a hand through her hair. "It’s not that big of a deal, though."

Yoko raised an eyebrow. "Not a big deal? You’ve been out of it all day. Must’ve been something."

Enid hesitated, then finally gave in. "Wednesday… she pinned me to the wall," she admitted quietly, her voice trailing off. She could feel her heart thudding in her chest again just at the memory. "And she called me ‘darling’."

For a moment, there was silence around the table before Kent burst into laughter.

"How sweet," he said, nudging Yoko, who was already grinning widely.

"Darling? Oh my god, that’s rich," Bianca said, shaking her head in disbelief. "I mean, Wednesday’s as cold as ice, and now she’s using pet names? What’s next, love letters?"

Enid huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I think I might’ve provoked her or something. That’s the only reason she did it," she mumbled, trying to downplay the intensity of the moment, though she could still feel the heat of Wednesday’s touch on her skin.

"Or maybe it was something else," Yoko teased, nudging her shoulder playfully. "You know, sparks flying, old feelings surfacing…"

Enid just shook her head, rolling her eyes. "Whatever. I’m getting a drink. I’ll be right back." She stood up quickly, desperate for an escape from the conversation, and made her way toward the dining hall.
