Enid lay sprawled on her bed in the quiet dorm room, staring at the ceiling, still recovering from her vacation. She had barely begun to relax when the door burst open with a loud thud.
“Seriously? You’re just laying around after that vacation?” Yoko’s familiar voice called out.
Enid groaned, rolling onto her side to see her friends standing in the doorway.
Yoko, Bianca, Divina, and Kent looked at her expectantly with their amused looks.
“I’m exhausted, okay?” Enid grumbled, pulling a pillow over her head. “That trip was a lot.”
Bianca folded her arms, leaning casually against the doorframe. “Tired, huh? So, what exactly were you up to during this vacation?”
Enid peeked out from under her pillow, sitting up slowly. Her lips curved into a dreamy smile.
“Well… Wednesday and I went on dates pretty much every day. We even spent some nights at her house. It was... perfect.”
There was a beat of silence before Divina’s voice cut through, her tone sharp with disbelief.
“Wait, hold on. Did you just say dates?”
“Yes, dates,” Enid confirmed, her cheeks tinged pink. She absently fiddled with the black diamond ring on her finger.
Yoko’s sunglasses slipped down her nose as she gawked. “And you’re only just now telling us?!”
Enid raised her hands defensively. “Look, I was caught up in the moment, okay? Oh, and I forgot to mention—our families threw a celebration for us. You know, since we’re, like, officially together now.”
“Officially together?!” Bianca exclaimed, her voice rising in disbelief.
She narrowed her eyes at Enid. “And not a single text, picture, or anything about this?”
Yoko clutched her chest dramatically, her face filled with betrayal. “You’ve been holding out on us, Sinclair. This is unacceptable.”
“I’m sorry!” Enid cried, holding back a laugh. “It was all just happening so fast. I didn’t have time to update you guys.”
“Nope, that’s not gonna cut it,” Kent said, shaking his head as he plopped onto the nearest chair. “You owe us big time for keeping this a secret.”
“So, where’s Wednesday now?” Bianca asked, raising an eyebrow.
“She’s with Eugene in the forest,” Enid replied. “They're bug hunting”
Yoko smirked, crossing the room as she grabbed Enid’s arm and yanked her off the bed.
“Then there’s no excuse. We’re throwing a party to celebrate this monumental occasion.”
“Hell yeah!” Kent cheered, fist-pumping the air. “Let’s go!”
“Wait—what? A party?!” Enid protested, stumbling as Yoko dragged her toward the door.
Divina looped her arm through Enid’s other side, grinning mischievously. “Of course. You can’t just drop news like this and not expect us to make a big deal out of it.”
“We need details, celebrations, and maybe a few drinks,” Bianca added with a smirk, following behind.
As the group whisked Enid out of the dorm, her protests faded into resigned laughter.
“Fine, but if Wednesday kills me for this, you’re all to blame!"
_________
After the lively party, Enid found herself stumbling through the dimly lit hallway. The effects of the night’s festivities lingered, leaving her slightly off-balance as she made her way back to her dorm.
