One month later..

Siobhan stood frozen outside of Vivian's flat complex, her heart threatening to rip through her chest and run off on its own. For the last month she had been trying to sort herself out, practice what she would need to say- be the woman Vivian needed. Now she couldn't do anything but hope that she wasn't too late. She recalled what Reece had told her before she left his house that afternoon, 'Don't push just be." She had no idea what it was even supposed to mean. There was no way she could contain her nerves long enough to 'just be.' She wanted to just be somewhere with a bottle of wine and no anxiety.

She must have been standing there for an hour by the time she decided that it was a ridiculous idea to show up outside of Vivian's door. What was she even supposed to say? 'Hey, Viv. I am so sorry that I disappeared like that one sock you can never seem to find when you need it most. Where was I? Oh nowhere. Totally not off getting beaten by the man I chose over you.' Yeah, she thought. That would go over well. She groaned to herself, louder than she would have liked to admit as she turned to walk back to her car.

"Hey, watch it!"

"Ah, shit I'm sorry I-" Siobhan's eyes widened. "Sara?"

"Siobhan! Surprised to see you here." Siobhan took a step back quickly. She could feel bile raising in her throat at the thought of where Sara was going.

"I could say the same." Siobhan crossed her arms against her chest. She felt the all too familiar scowl pull at her lips.

"I'm sure you could." Sara smirked, an almost evil cheekiness sprawled across her face that made Siobhan feel ill. "I have Vivian's groceries. She was going to be late getting home. You know those receiving times, can't miss them." Siobhan looked Sara over, her hair was braided over her shoulder with one strand hanging in her eye. Siobhan couldn't even deny it, Sara was gorgeous. A pit of jealousy formed in her gut as she realized she likely was too late.

"Right... Well I'll just be going- wouldn't want to interrupt anything. Have a good night, Sara." Siobhan shoved her way past Sara to walk back down the sidewalk. There was silence for a moment, Siobhan was certain Sara was reveling in her victory behind her. She had to be.

"She tried to call you, you know." Sara shouted. Siobhan's heels screeched against the ground. She turned back, expecting to see Sara facing her with a scowl on her face, but Sara hadn't moved. "She called and called and you just never answered. For two months now I have been taking care of her wounded pride." Sara finally turned around to face Siobhan. "Now that alone is a challenge, but the real fight comes from convincing her that you aren't as shallow as you seem. That you wouldn't dare take her heart and crush it the way she thinks you did."

"Why would you try that? Why not swoop in and play the hero, Sara? Vivian is a catch-"

"You're right. She is. But she isn't mine to save. She is head over heels for you, Siobhan. I can't for the life of me understand why. You have been nothing but cold and callous for as long as I have known of you, but since you have met Vivian-..." Sara shook her head with a breathy laugh. "I hope you know that she won't wait around forever. But she will continue to wait for you. Don't keep her waiting any more. Make up your mind before she completely loses hers." Siobhan swallowed hard. She was sure if she tried to move her legs would fall out from under her. Sara was right. She didn't want to admit it, she hated the woman in front of her, even more so knowing that she had been the one who had picked up all the pieces while she was gone. The pieces she had left- ...maybe she should have been thankful.

"Siobhan." A voice carried across the breeze over Siobhan's shoulder. In an instant shivers erupted down her spine, her stomach filled with an atrium of butterflies and her knees felt like jello that never fully set. She was there, her Vivian, she was right there. Why couldn't she turn around- turn around!
