When she was a child, the sound of her door opening and closing would bring Siobhan out of the deepest of slumbers. She always knew which footsteps were coming up the hallway, and God forbid if she were awake- the dread would set in far sooner than the door being opened. Over the years, Siobhan had blocked out the memories of her childhood, maybe even well into her teenage years. The older she got, the less she remembered. She told herself it was for the better, the less she knew- the less it would hurt. But seeing her father standing in the doorway that day brought back a flood of memories she didn't realize she had made herself forget. She held her breath as the door shut, once again trapping her in the same room as her father. She could feel her body trying to shake, to be afraid of her father- but she refused. He wouldn't have control, she wouldn't give him the satisfaction. She found herself shuffling her body further into the sheets, yet again feeling the desire to fall through them and into the abyss. Siobhan didn't like that feeling. She had just gotten rid of the cause, she didn't want another.

"Siobhan. I'm sorry for your loss." Her father clasped his hands in front of himself. Siobhan grimaced.

"Daniel, I have no desire to discuss my loss with you." Siobhan dug deep within her chest to pull her snarky attitude out. Daniel chuckled, bringing his arm out to pull the silent woman into him.

"Oh but my dear, I didn't ask what you desired. In fact, it makes me sick to think of your desires." He gripped his hand into the woman's shoulder tightly. Siobhan clocked the movement, dread setting deep within her bones. "I'm here to discuss further treatment with you." Confusion crossed Siobhan's face. She didn't like the way the word treatment sounded.

"What do you mean? I wasn't far enough along to need trea-"

"That is not the illness I am suggesting treatment for. I have spoken to one of the psychiatrists in the unit across town-" Siobhan shot up in her bed, her eyes wild with disbelief.

"You did WHAT!? No. Absolutely not. You don't get to decide how I live my life anymore. I am 36 years old and you are not my keeper. You will not do to me what you did to my mother!"

"Your mother was a disgusting woman with far too many psychological issues of her own! I did what was best for her!"

"You did what was best for YOU!" Siobhan shouted. The fear of disturbing anyone was far out the window, all she could see was her father and the red that shrouded her vision. "You RUINED my childhood, don't you understand that!? What teenager that has to explain their mother had been PLACED IN PERMANENT PSYCHIATRIC CARE ends up NORMAL?!" Siobhan felt tears streaming down her face as she spoke. Her father was unwavering, his expression not even so much as twitched. The only movement he made was digging his fingers deeper into the shoulder of the woman beside him.

"You're disturbed. Just as your mother was, you are unwell Shibby-"

"Don't you EVER use that name." Siobhan gripped her bedsheets angrily.

"I am a concerned parent taking the care of my daughter into my own hands. You are unwell, and as such cannot make decisions for yourself. I hate to be the one to bring you such news in the wake of your loss. My deepest condolences." Her father droned. Siobhan scowled.

"You don't talk about my baby. Ever." She spat out. "Leave, Daniel. Now." Her father clicked against his teeth with a chuckle.

"Oh no no no, that won't do. You see... It's too late, daughter. You are being transferred to the proper facility. You will be treated and dismissed when you are able to properly understand those confusing feelings you believe you possess. As far as your friends out there... they'll be leaving now." Siobhan's eyes widened as she realized that there was no lie behind his words. Her father had done exactly what he said he had. She could see orderlies outside the door ushering her friends away- she could see Vivian fighting them with every ounce of her being. Siobhan's chest felt like it was being crushed under thousand pound weights.
