Weeks had slipped by in a blur of "normal" school life—if being a student at U.A. could ever be called normal. Y/N had almost let themselves sink into the routine, blending in with the everyday chaos of high school, training with their friends, laughing with Bakugo and the Bakusquad, and trying to just be... a kid.
But as they sat in their dorm room, lounging with their feet up on their desk, their phone buzzed with a notification, the encrypted call lighting up the screen with just one word: Broker.
Y/N's face shifted, slipping from the casual expression of a student to the sharper, more calculating mask of their Deadpool persona. They answered, the familiar voice of their Broker crackling through the line.
"Deadpool," the Broker began, not one for pleasantries. "We've confirmed that the League of Villains is active again. Looks like they're about to rekindle some old flames and start moving their plan into high gear. There's intel you need to act on—connections, affiliations, weaknesses—all up to you to untangle, but this could be it. This is what you've trained for."
Y/N's lips quirked into a half-smile. "Oh, joy. So, this is a 'once and for all' situation, huh?"
"Indeed. And let me be clear, we can't afford distractions or side missions. Nezu and your U.A. ties stay out of it, no matter how close you've gotten. You'll be keeping them safe by staying distant."
Y/N nodded to themselves. "Got it. No extra baggage." But inside, their heart twisted. They'd grown attached—maybe too attached—to their friends here, people who'd come to trust them. Leaving behind that identity, even temporarily, had its cost.
The Broker's tone softened, if only slightly. "Nezu's going to cover for you. We'll say Wolverine has taken you for an extended internship. He's agreed to back the story; apparently, he's been itching to get his claws on some new 'apprentice' material anyway."
Y/N chuckled. "Wolverine in charge of an intern. Sounds like a great reality show. But hey, I get to be the main character."
"Don't let that ego go to your head." The Broker's voice hardened again. "The League has likely gained allies in the Meta Liberation Army. They've got loose affiliations and a shared philosophy of chaos that works in both their favors. We need you to infiltrate—get close. Use whatever cover you need."
Y/N's eyes flashed with a fierce energy. "Consider it done."
The call clicked off, and Y/N, now fully in their Deadpool mindset, smirked to themselves. Time to get back in the game.
The next day, Y/N tracked down Nezu in his office to break the cover story, adopting the lightest and most unbothered expression they could muster.
"Wolverine's 'officially' taking me on an internship," Y/N announced with an air of dramatized nonchalance, leaning against the doorframe. "You'll handle the paperwork, right?"
