'Oli took me on a day trip to Camebridge yesterday. It was his dad's birthday, and Oli's parents offered to drive all the way there from Sheffield because it's a lot closer to London. I dunno why he had to bring me with, though. I'm 14 and am perfectly capable of being home alone for one day. He said he didn't trust me not to repeat what I'd done. I promised him I wouldn't. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I'd been crying the night before. I think he might have heard me. I dunno. Either way, he forced me to go with him, and I must admit that I was incredibly nervous about meeting his parents, but they were incredibly kind and funny. His mum fussed over how much weight he'd lost, and they chastised him for not ringing them often enough. They seemed like the kind of parents who wouldn't just leave their child home alone for weeks or months on end. I really liked that about them. I wish mine made a better effort to contact me while they're away. I miss them, and I sometimes wish they had normal, boring jobs. I have to stop now cause I'm about to start crying again. I hate this.'
"What are you listening to?" Mickey pulled out my earphone, "and more importantly, why aren't you chatting with us?" He was a bit restless sitting between Oli and I. Neither of us was in a chatty mood, much to Mickey's displeasure. He was very obviously bored. I dunno why he didn't just chat with Jordan, Lee, and Matt. "I'm listening to old tapes from our jam sessions," I told him and took my earphone out of his hand. "Why?" He asked. "Cause I'm trying to figure out if there's anything useful there," I said. "Why?" He asked again. "Because I want to begin writing our next song," I said with a sigh. "Why?" He asked for the third time. "Bloody hell," I heard Oli mutter under his breath. He was looking out of the window and had been doing that since we'd left his house an hour ago.
We had a bit of a weird run-in with each other after pizza earlier. He had left us after he'd finished eating to go put his dirty laundry in the bin and pack new clothing for the next two weeks. He'd been gone a while, and when the rest of us all finished eating, too, Jordan sent me to fetch Oli because we would be leaving soon. I didn't understand why I had to go fetch him, but I didn't argue. So, anyway, I'd knocked on Oli's door, and he didn't say anything, so I knocked again. I could hear music playing from behind the door, which meant that Oli was definitely there. I'd decided to just barge in like an idiot, and well, he wasn't exactly completely dressed when I did that. He was only wearing a pair of underwear. I don't think he was so much embarrassed about me seeing him almost naked, but more so because he'd been dancing around to Backstreet Boys when I barged in. He got really mad and yelled at me for not respecting his boundaries, and I stormed away on the verge of tears. He hasn't apologised yet. Therefore, I am not speaking to him. Although, I don't reckon he's speaking to me either.
Anyway, now we're here, with Mickey between us because Oli refused to sit next to me. Arsehole. He's a bit childish, isn't he?
"I'm trying to write a song because I think it's time we stopped being a one hit wonder," I explained to Mickey. "Alright. What's it gonna be about?" He asked. "I dunno, mate. I'll know when I know, y'know what I mean?" I shrugged. "Aye," he nodded. "Does your band have a name yet?" He asked. "Aye! Dom and I came up with it earlier. We're called Flying Rat's Arse," I grinned. "Interesting choice," he sniggered. "It was either that or something like The Foggiest 404," I added. "I think I understand the first one, but the second one?" He asked. "Cause we haven't had the foggiest what we wanted to be called for the longest time," I chuckled. "Oh, and the 404 is meant to be the error code?" He questioned. "Exactly," I nodded. "That's a bit fun," he said. "Aye, but I think FRA sounds better," I shrugged. "Probably, yeah," he agreed. "Speaking of which, I've forgot to change the name of my YouTube channel," I said, remembering my promise to Dom. I unlocked my phone and went on YouTube. I saw that we had tons of new notifications. My eyes widened as I read through them. Our original song had a staggering 15k views now and the comment section was flooded with requests for new music. "Blimey, looks like you've exploded," Mickey commented, looking over my shoulder. "I have you lads to thank, I reckon," I said. "We take cash," he joked and I laughed. "Wait, look at this one," he said taking my phone and scrolling up a bit.
