'I just found out that bees and bumblebees are two different species. Apparently, boy bees and girl bumblebees exist, too. I thought bumblees were bees' husbands. I am truly flabbergasted.'
"Your phone's vibrating," Oli said, pausing the film. "Oh, it's just Gemma. I sent her the song earlier," I explained, leaving out the part where I'd gushed over our chat. "When can I see it?" He asked. "I dunno," I shrugged. The answer was never. Or not until we've recorded it and posted it on YouTube. With several hundred kilometres between us. "Can I see it now?" He asked. "We're watching the movie right now," I shook my head. "After then," he said and pressed play. I took a look at my phone. Gemma had sent me several messages.
HiddenGem: He's apologised!
HiddenGem: I can't believe he actually wore the outfit
HiddenGem: AND IT RAINED
HiddenGem: Oh my God!!! Did you kiss????
HiddenGem: Please tell me you kissed
HiddenGem: Thomas!!!
HiddenGem: I hope the reason you're ignoring me is that you're busy snogging Oli.
LenTommy: Christ, Gem, calm down. We're not snogging.
HiddenGem: What are you doing then?
LenTommy: We're watching Eclipse.
HiddenGem: You're still on Twilight? Mate, he definitely fancies you. No bloke would suffer through those movies for a friend.
LenTommy: Shut up. He doesn't fancy me.
HiddenGem: Mark my words, Thomas.
LenTommy: I am choosing to ignore that. Tell me, did you like the song?
HiddenGem: Aye, it was really sexy 😈
LenTommy: What are you on about?
HiddenGem: I want to hear your voice inside my ear????
LenTommy: Because it's comforting, you twat
HiddenGem: Keep telling yourself that, mate.
HiddenGem: But you wrote a sex song. And that's all I'll say on the matter. Go back to snogging Olober 😘😘😘😘😘
LenTommy: I bloody hate you."I thought we were watching the film," Oli whispered beside me. I threw the phone up because he startled me. "Sorry, I had to reply to her," I apologised and picked up my phone off the floor. "Aye, and talk about your sex song," he sniggered. "What?" I asked. "Your song. It's about sex?" He asked. "Were you reading my messages?" I asked, eyes wide. "No," he grinned wickedly. "Oli, it wasn't what it sounded like. Gemma's delusional," I said, cheeks burning. "I haven't the slightest what you're on about," he shrugged, still smiling. He unpaused the movie again. I dunno when he'd paused it, but I guess it was during my chat with Gem. "Oli, I don't want to snog you," I said, not wanting him to think otherwise. "I know," he nodded. "And I don't think you fancy me," I added. "Nobody said you did," he looked amused. "And I don't fancy you either," I said. "Okay," he smiled. "You don't believe me," I accused. "I do," he said. "Then why won't you stop smiling?" I exclaimed. "Because you're a bit cute right now," he said. I was stunned into silence. He laughed and shook his head. I kept glancing at him throughout the movie, and his smile grew each time I did. I wondered why. Why wasn't he mad at Gemma and I? He was so incredibly confusing! Ugh!
We somehow made it through the entire film. A proper miracle. I pretended to be drowsy at the end and escaped to my room before he could ask to see my song. Truth was, I was wide awake. I could not fall asleep for the life of me. I tossed and turned most of the night until I finally fell asleep at around 6 in the morning.
When I woke up, I found the lads in the kitchen. They were sitting around the table together and chatting about something. I felt like I'd been hit by a train, I was so tired. It was 11. "Sleeping Beauty's finally joined us," Oli grinned when he noticed me. "About time. We thought we might need to send in Prince Oli to wake you with a kiss," Mickey sniggered, earning a smack upside his head from Oli. "I'm sorry," I murmured. "There's no need to apologise, love. We've already ate, but there's beans on toast on the pan still," Oli told me. He called me love again, and he was sober. An involuntary smile appeared on my face as I shuffled toward the stove. "Sorry to do this to you, Len, but can you hurry? We have soundcheck in 30," Jordan said apologetically. "Wha'?" I asked with my mouth full. "Why didn't you wake me up earlier then?" I asked once I'd swallowed. "We tried," Lee said. "You told me to fuck off in your sleep," Mickey chuckled. "Sorry," I said. I scarfed down the toast quickly, and then I ran back to my room to grab my clothing. I hurried to the bathroom, showered in record time, hastily got dressed, and finally brushed my teeth. I was ready on the dot. "I'm proper impressed right now," Oli grinned when I joined them. "Shall we?" I asked. "Let's," Jordan said.
