[TAEHYUNG YOUNG]
The alcohol burns in my throat , leaving a warm sensation in my chest. The sharp taste lingers on my tongue as I watch Sofia smiling at something that motherfucker is saying.
For some stupid reason, I had to be in Valhalla at the same time they are. The blue-eyed man leans to show something on his phone to her, and she swats his arm away with a wide grin.
Nathan Belmont.
One of the biggest producers in the music industry.
That's his name.
Jealousy and anger bubble up inside me as I watch them interact. This motherfucker gets to see her grins and smiles when she hasn't graced me with one. I can't stand the thought of someone else making her laugh like that. It's like a punch to the gut every time I see them together.
I am almost this close to punching him; I almost did, but Sofia's glare stops me in my tracks. She sees right through me and knows I'm about to lose control. I take a deep breath and try to calm myself before doing something I'll regret.
"If you do something to him, directly or indirectly, I'll never forgive you."
That's what she said when she entered and spotted me shooting daggers at her little friend.
I am still figuring out how to ask her on a date once again. She told me to chase her, and I will. And when I catch her, there will be no way I'll let her slip away this time. She's worth the will and I'm determined to make things right.
Then her tear-streaked face from the award show resurfaces, and my chest tightens and aches. It is surely my fault she was crying. I was too big of an asshole to lash out on her when she was the only thing keeping me sane.
I need to apologize and show her that I have changed for the better. I owe it to her to make things right and prove that I am capable of treating her with the love and respect she deserves.
"Young," a rich timbre addresses me, and I recognize it as Niko Volkov's voice.
"Volkov." I turn around and find a pensive-looking Niko Volkov. His icy green eyes piece through mine. I remember how he warned me not to ever hurt his sister , and I realize now that I have broken that promise.
I place my drink on the counter and look at him.
"I know I messed up, Niko. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make things right with her," I say, hoping he can see the sincerity in my eyes. "I'll do whatever it takes to prove that I can be the man she deserves."
"You have caused harm to my sister," Niko's voice is menacing, his jaw clenched. "Have I not explicitly instructed you to keep your distance from her?"
I can see the anger and protectiveness in his eyes, reserved only for those he cares about.
"You did but again, Sofia is my whole world. I promise to make things right." I say again.
"You know what. I hate when someone hurts my sister. I want to rip their head off when someone makes her cry. " Niko warns, inching closer to me.
"Are you issuing a threat?" I question, raising my eyebrow.
"Sofi still loves you, so let me give you my mercy. Stay away from her. If I see you anywhere near her, I will make your life a living hell. You don't want to test me on this." Niko's voice is low and dangerous, his protectiveness radiating off of him in waves.
"I respectfully refuse," I state with a shrug.
"You will regret this, Young. Your dad won't be able to save you from me, or Russo." Niko closes the distance between us, looking ready to punch me.
