"You are the stupidest person I've ever met!" Elsa screamed, flinging a cushion across the room on Ariana who was pacing up and down. She caught it and dropped it down on the couch. Katherine sighed. She felt a storm brewing. A massive thunderstorm. "All you do is jump to conclusions!" Elsa continued, clutching the sheets. "I do not jump to conclusions! I have thought this through carefully!" "Oh really, Sherlock? Tell me, how is it possible to deduce from the fact that he warned us about the exam that Luke is an Auranium traitor?!" "You're behaving as if you like him!" Ariana screamed back and stared in surprise as Elsa dropped her gaze and her cheeks turned red. "You.. like him.." Ariana whispered while Katherine jumped to Elsa's side. "Wow Elsa! How come you never told us?! But we should've guessed, you know." Elsa looked at Ariana silently. "Of.. of course Elsa.. we're so happy for you." Ariana said awkwardly. Elsa smiled a bit. "I'm sorry Ari. But, I still don't think Luke has done anything wrong."
The girls were in Ariana's room. It was a cold Monday evening. She had dragged them away from the Zeta to discuss something important. She told them all about how she thought that Luke was lurking outside the Curatoria. This thought made chills run down their spines, especially Elsa's. "You can't consider Luke a traitor." Elsa said, shaking her head firmly. Katherine sat quietly on a chair, deep in thought. "Listen Elsa, I've got no idea why you're siding with him so much, but you're wrong! I can't say I'm right, but I'm sure Luke is up to no good! He was there. He was there, doing I don't know what outside the Curatoria." The Curatoria was the most important chamber in the school. It guarded the Five Lapidoss, Five stones, one for each element. These were the most sacred things held by the Maguses. Dating back to the beginning of time, the stones possessed the ultimate power. That's the reason why they were protected so well. Long ago, when Auranium wasn't as power hungry as it was now, the Five Elders of each Ingenium had created the Lapidoss. These stones had the power of granting anything any number of times to the holder, provided he was from that Ingenium. The Five Elders swore to never touch the stones for selfish needs. The Lapidoss were dangerously powerful and so had to be protected from selfish hands. That was the original reason of Lexington's creation. Guarding the Lapidoss. Later on it was decided to convert it into a school for young Maguses. Each Lapidoss could be accessed only by seeking permission from the Elders and could be used for a noble cause. No one had expected the sudden turn of events.
Auranium was a selfish Ingenium. The Five Elders were long gone, but the Elders never really left. As soon as an Elder died, another Elder was found by the circular ring shining around their head like a halo, blue for the to-be elder of Imbrus, golden for the to-be Elder of Isidium and so on. The Elders were decided randomly. Even though you had no Elder blood in your family, you could be born as the next Elder. But Auranium had become corrupt. It was the present Elder, Magus Carabiner Odalus, who wanted all the Lapidoss for himself and not for very noble causes. He wanted to make Auranium the all powerful ruling Ingenium. The Four Elders of the remaining Ingeniums therefore made sure the Lapidoss were well protected, using every enchantment know to Maguskind to seal the Curatoria, resting place of the five Lapidoss, located at Lexington High. Not all Auranium Maguses were selfish, though. Some of them were against Odalus's decisions. The four noble Elders had given a chance to the loyal young Auranium students, permitting them to pursue education at Lexington High. A traitor could easily conceal himself among them, pretending to be a harmless Auranium pursuing knowledge. All the students, before entering Lexington, had to take a vow to never use the magic bestowed on them for selfish needs. Ariana presumed Luke and some of his cronies would've tried to get access to the Lapidoss, since Auranium, the Air Ingenium didn't have a very clean record. Phillip was from Auranium too while Zack was from Insedium (the fire Ingenium). Ariana was an Imbrusian (the water Ingenium), Elsa belonged to Crystallium (the ice Ingenium) while Katherine was an Insedium. Ariana strongly suspected foul play from Luke. And she was trying to convince the others of it too. Katherine was sort of convinced. The problem was Elsa. Now it's gonna be even more difficult to convince her.. Ariana realised bitterly. She had fallen for Luke. And as far as Ariana knew, Elsa would never play around with anyone's feelings. "Would you believe me if some more evidences popped up?" Ariana asked Elsa, clearly realising that this was a wrong time. Elsa looked up. "Yes I will." She replied.
"Fine then." Ariana said and got up. "We'll have to shadow Luke's every move from now. Throw aside your feelings towards him for a while, Elsa." Ariana instructed a little heartlessly. But Elsa was firm on her resolve. No biased opinions. Her lips were pressed together in a thin line and she nodded her head firmly. Ariana's gaze softened. "Sorry Elsa. I'm just.. just not used to this. I mean.." She faltered. Elsa smiled and shook her head. "I know, Ari It's my fault. I should've told you about this earlier. But no worries. I know you'll have trouble adjusting to it but I promise I won't behave lovestruck all the time!" She joked and embraced Ariana as Katherine watched them and smiled. Ariana laughed and hugged her back. "Oh, and one more thing. Don't change your attitude towards Luke because of this okay? I really enjoy seeing him being slain by you!" Katherine grinned and joined the group hug.~♢~
Elsa didn't feel so strong now that she was alone. She was lying on her soft bed, covers drawn upto her chin. Elsa checked her phone. Two hours past lights out. She sighed and fell back on her bed. Usually she had no problem with her sleep. In fact, she welcomed the time she could let go of everything and drift off. But tonight she wasn't able to let go of her thoughts. Everytime she closed her eyes, Luke's face would float into view. His usually innocent expression, coupled with his brilliant green eyes. Elsa squeezed her eyes tight, trying to push him out of her mind and concentrate on the surprise test he had told them about. There he was again. Elsa sighed and turned over, burying her face in her pillow. She still wasn't convinced about what Ariana had told them. Luke couldn't.. he wouldn't do anything like that. He loved Lexington. It was his home after all. Lexington had offered him and Phillip a home when they had nowhere to go. Elsa knew that. She just couldn't digest the thought that he might do something like that. She couldn't imagine those green eyes going all cold and scary. How can Ari not see?! Elsa growled in frustration. She couldn't let Luke take over her this way. And yet, she couldn't wait for dawn to come so she could see him again. Does he even like you?! Elsa asked herself. He sure behaves like he does.. she answered herself with a smile. She couldn't understand Ariana's obsession with the safety of the Lapidoss. It was none of their business after all. Oh, it is.. her conscience interrupted her. She shook her head and burrowed deeper into her pillow. Anyway I'm sure Luke has nothing to do with this.. she comforted herself. He would never do anything like this. Ariana was getting upset over nothing. But it didn't mean she wouldn't help her. She wasn't going to lose a friend because of Luke. Elsa yawned. Finally she was starting to feel sleepy. She let go of all her thoughts, wished she wouldn't dream of Luke and slipped into sleep's warm comforting embrace.
