Third person's pov
Just like every day after the weight has been lifted off their chest, today the members are all sitting in the living room.
Jimin, Taehung, and Jungkook were arguing over who won the bag of potato chips after their game. Apparently, they forgot who won the game, and they were not planning on playing another one to find out, while the others were on their phone barely paying attention to their banter.
"I was the one that placed the last card." Taehyung said, glaring at the other two. "Woah, Taehyung-ah, that's definitely a lie. I can clearly remember placing this card before ya'all distracted me so you can claim the win." Jimin argued, holding the supposed last card he played.
"No, I was definitely the..." Jungkook started only to be cut off by the doorbell. All eyes fell on him expecting him to go open the door as he was the youngest. He rolled his eyes as everyone was pulling the hyung card on him.
He peeped through the peephole to find a short girl facing her back to the door. He recognised the girl as Jimin's other friend. He opened the door, and she turned around, smiling at him. "Is Jimin Oppa here." She asked, still maintaining her smile.
Jungkook moved aside to let her in nodding his head absentmindedly. He wanted to laugh at the way the girl called him Jimin Oppa, but he didn't wanna seem weird.
He trailed behind as they both made their way back to the living room. Jimin smiled at the sight of his friend forgetting about the chips argument that he and Tae were still going on about.
He engulfed the girl who was 3 inches shorter than him in a bear hug. "I missed you," he said, still maintaining the hug, "more than you can imagine." She said, between her sniffles.
They both didn't know when they started crying, but they knew what made them cry. This was the first time they were meeting after Hyejin's death. They both came to the conclusion that it would never be the same to hang around each other without Hyejin.
They only talk to each other over the phone. Three hours of call every now and then, they were both busy with their lives after all.
They never bring up Hyejin in their conversations because they'll both end up crying whenever they speak about her. But today, Hyerin came with the soul aim to tell him what their friend kept hidden from him.
They finally broke the hug, and they both sat down. The others wanted to give them privacy as they decided the two needed time to catch up, but Hyerin stopped them.
"You guys can also stay, I think you all need to know what Hyejin-ah told me the night before she passed on." She said, wiping her tears.
She looked at Jimin, her eyes filled with pain as she spoke, "Why were you not picking up your phone?" She asked him. Jimin looked confused at her before looking at his phone. It wasn't on silent, and he found no missed call.
He showed her his phone, which displayed his contact list. She noticed that this was not the same phone he was using two years back, but she didn't expect him to be using the same phone he used for the past years, so she just continued.
"Not today... that night... Hyejin told me that she was gonna end it cause you found her disgusting, y-you were n-not..." she started but couldn't complete her sentence as she burst out in tears.
Jimin immediately hugged her. His mind was telling him that he was not gonna like what she wanted to say. He already knew what she wanted to say, but he did not want to believe it.
"I c-called you, but your p-phone always goes to v-voice mail. She wanted you to stop her. S-she wanted you to say that she was p-pure, she wanted to hear it from you, b-but you were not there, and you w-were not picking up." She said, wiping her tears, which showed no sign of stopping.
Realisation dawned on him. His phone must've fallen down when he was being beaten by Seokjin. It was in his shirt pocket, so it was easy for it to fall. He had gotten another one because they couldn't track his previous phone.
It was not that he wasn't picking up, he was unconscious, and his phone was not there, so nobody heard it ringing. His hand shook on his lap, his silent tears turning to sobs. He knew he wasn't the only one crying, but he cared less about the others.
The only thought in his was mind was: 'I could've saved her, what was I doing sleeping like a log while my best friend was dying. What was he doing when she needed him the most.' His body shook violently because of all the sobs he tried keeping in.
He doesn't want to disturb them with his cries. He was the one who failed to protect her twice. He failed her not once but twice, but she always ended up relying on him. Why was he so useless.
"She loved you..." he heard Hyerin's voice, it felt like she was talking to him from miles away even though she was right next to him. She loved him, but...
"Even t-though she knew she c-couldn't get you, she still loved you. When you t-told her that you were into g-guys, she was broken, but she was happy for you..." Jimin was now looking at her. She was smiling as if she was remembering when she talked with her friend.
"She said she wanted to c-confess to you, not to burden you, b-but she felt like she could only move on when she f-finally tells you everything. That was the day they..." she broke down, not able to complete her sentence.
Jimin didn't know how to react to this news. She was so happy for him when he told her he was into guys and even celebrated with him when Yoongi confessed.
What did he miss? She seemed so happy, was he so bad at reading people, or was she so good at hiding her emotions? He doesn't know when he absentmindedly escorts Hyerin to the door. His head was banging with this new information.
When he reached his room, he threw himself on his bed, burying his face in his pillow he screamed loudly and cried himself to sleep.
