The tension was thick as Jungkook and Taehyung’s team entered the courtroom, each of them bearing signs of the week’s pressures. But no one showed a single ounce of hesitation; they were here to fight for Min Jiha’s justice. Jungkook’s gaze immediately locked onto Park Wonrae, who sat confidently across the room, a smug smile plastered on his face. Jungkook’s eyes narrowed, and his jaw clenched, sending a message with his intense stare: he was here to bring the truth to light, no matter the cost.
Taehyung placed a hand on Jungkook’s arm, whispering, “Don’t let him get to you. We’re going to win this.”
Jungkook nodded, taking a calming breath. “He’ll regret that smirk soon enough.”
As the trial began, the judge called on Jungkook and Taehyung’s team to present their latest findings. Jungkook stepped forward confidently, holding up a set of documents and images. “Your Honor, we have reviewed further evidence, and we believe that there are enough inconsistencies to challenge the claim that Jiha’s death was a suicide.”
He passed the documents to the judge’s assistant, who handed them up to the bench. The courtroom was silent as the judge began to review the evidence. Among the exhibits were photographs of bruises on Jiha’s wrists and a documented timeline showing a drastic change in her behavior and appearance in the weeks leading up to her death.
“Your Honor,” Taehyung continued, stepping in, “we also have proof that the company’s records and surveillance footage from Jiha’s last known whereabouts were altered. Jiha’s posts on social media hinted at a deep distress and signs of control and manipulation by the company. We believe that Jiha was in a situation where her well-being was at stake.”
The judge’s eyes darkened as he reviewed the information, clearly taken aback by the weight of what he was reading.
In the corner of his eye, Jungkook noticed Park Wonrae shift uncomfortably. The usual smugness was replaced with a flicker of unease. He clenched his fists, trying to regain composure, but the cracks in his facade were visible to everyone in the room.
Taehyung continued, his voice unwavering, “Your Honor, we request that the postmortem report be re-evaluated by an independent forensic team. We believe that critical details may have been overlooked in the initial report.”
The judge sat back, deep in thought, tapping his pen lightly against the bench. Finally, he spoke, “Given the gravity of these new findings, I am inclined to grant your request. The court orders a re-examination of Min Jiha’s postmortem report by an independent team. We will reconvene next week for the final trial.”
As the judge adjourned the court, Park Wonrae was the first to bolt from his seat, his face drained of color, his confident demeanor shattered. He shoved his way through the crowd, disappearing through the courtroom doors, but not before sparing a final glare at Jungkook and Taehyung, one that was filled with seething hatred.
Taehyung looked over at Jungkook, a glimmer of hope finally breaking through the tension of the past few weeks. “Did you see his face?” he whispered, a slight smile tugging at his lips.
Jungkook grinned, an unfamiliar warmth of victory bubbling up. “I did. It’s a start, Tae. We’re getting closer.”
The rest of the team gathered around, exchanging hopeful glances and murmurs of encouragement. They knew there was still a battle ahead, but this small victory strengthened their determination. As they left the courtroom, they walked with renewed purpose, a sense of unity and hope finally filling the air.
Jungkook looked back at the courthouse, determination hardening his gaze once more. “We’re going to finish this,” he said softly to Taehyung. “No matter what it takes.”
Taehyung gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, their silent promise echoing between them as they left the courtroom together.
