The night was quiet, a soft lull settling over the city as Jungkook sat at his study table, his face illuminated by the pale light of his laptop. His brow furrowed in concentration as he poured over the evidence files, meticulously piecing together every detail that could turn the tide in Jiha’s case. His once-vibrant features had grown tired, shadows collecting beneath his eyes from days of relentless focus. But despite his exhaustion, he looked breathtaking to Taehyung, who watched him silently from the doorway.

Jungkook wore a white cotton shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing his muscular, veiny forearms. His top two buttons were undone, allowing a tantalizing glimpse of his collarbone, and he paired it with comfortable white shorts that highlighted the firmness of his thighs. The way he adjusted his glasses every so often, pushing them back up his nose as he frowned at the screen, made Taehyung’s heart flutter. To him, Jungkook was effortlessly sexy, even in his most serious moments.

Clearing his throat, Taehyung caught Jungkook’s attention. Jungkook turned around and saw Taehyung standing by the doorway, arms crossed, an amused smile playing on his lips. Taehyung looked adorable in his silk pajamas, his hair slightly tousled, his face fresh and makeup-free. To Jungkook, he was the very definition of beauty.

“Come here,” Jungkook murmured, setting his glasses down and gesturing for Taehyung to sit on his lap.

Taehyung’s face brightened, and he practically ran over, curling up in Jungkook’s lap, arms wrapped around his neck. Jungkook buried his face in Taehyung’s shoulder, breathing in the comforting scent of caramel that always seemed to calm him.

“You look exhausted,” Taehyung pouted, tracing his fingers over the curve of Jungkook’s ear, then playing with his soft locks. “At least show some interest in me too, boss.”

Jungkook chuckled, his eyes lighting up with warmth. He glanced at the laptop and replied, “Everything I’m doing is for you, you know.”

Taehyung’s heart softened, and he gently cupped Jungkook’s face, kissing his closed eyes one by one. “I know. But you need rest too. How about a new rule? After this case, no more work at home.”

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, amusement flickering in his gaze. “And how do you suppose that’s going to work in our line of work, baby?”

Taehyung tilted his head, considering. “Alright, only an hour of work at home, and that’s it.”

Jungkook chuckled softly. “Okay, okay. And are there any other rules, sir?”

Taehyung grinned, feigning deep thought. “Hmm…yes. A kiss every day, at least on my cheek.”

Jungkook laughed and leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss on his lips instead. “I’ll do more than that. I’ll drown you in kisses everywhere.”

Taehyung laughed, but his laughter softened as Jungkook held his face, gazing at him with a fierce, undivided focus. Their breaths mingled, and Jungkook's hand drifted to Taehyung's waist, pulling him closer. The room grew quieter as Jungkook’s thumb traced circles on Taehyung’s hip, their eyes locked.

Taehyung felt his heart race, his voice barely a whisper. “You’re always so serious when you look at me like that.”

Jungkook’s fingers brushed along Taehyung’s jaw. “How could I not be? You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, Tae.”

Taehyung’s cheeks flushed, but he didn’t look away. He leaned forward, his lips brushing against Jungkook’s in a soft, lingering kiss. Jungkook’s hand slipped up to the back of his neck, deepening the kiss. They melted into each other, their kisses growing slower, deeper, as if savoring the quiet moment in the middle of the storm they were facing.

The world outside faded, leaving just the two of them in their own space. Jungkook’s kisses traveled from Taehyung’s lips to his cheek, his jawline, and finally to his neck, making Taehyung shiver under his touch. Their breaths grew heavier as the intimacy of the moment enveloped them, both lost in the softness and warmth of each other.

As their lips met again, Taehyung whispered between kisses, “Promise me you’ll take care of yourself too.”

Jungkook held his face, his voice tender. “I promise, as long as you promise to stay safe. I can’t lose you.”

“I promise,” Taehyung whispered back, pressing his forehead against Jungkook’s. They stayed like that for a while, neither of them willing to break the connection.

Eventually, exhaustion took over. Jungkook held Taehyung close as they lay down, their fingers intertwined, their hearts beating in sync. As they drifted off to sleep, they held onto the comfort of each other, a quiet assurance that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
