Over the next day, we get with Marissa and start the search for land and a contractor to build our house. We actually decide on five rooms upstairs with three bathrooms. Downstairs will be another guest room with a small bathroom. Also a large kitchen, dining room, laundry, office, and den. All of the rooms are going to be huge. That way we don't feel cramped. That was the brothers biggest gripe as we grew up. They always got jealous that I had my own room. They all had to share since there are so many of them. But I was the only sister.
I go to work on Tuesday morning. Thane and Max don't like the idea of me working now that we know that there are triplets on board. But I need to work and keep up a good balance in my life.
One or both guys call every hour. They take me out to lunch. I had to promise not to do anything strenuous or stressful. I don't want to jeopardize our babies health. They are my first priority now. I just wish that I didn't feel so tired all day. But mom said that is part of being pregnant. So I will deal with it.
All of my officers and office staff, have made sure that I am alright from the break in. I assure them that I am fine. I stay around the office all morning, trying to catch up on paperwork. I succeed and finish just before lunch. Thane and Max come to take me to lunch at the same burger joint that I worked at during high school. We eat as we discuss our days work so far. They are both happy that I was stuck at my desk.
"So what are you doing after lunch?" Max asked me as he holds my right hand.
"I am going on patrol. At least for a few hours. What about you?"
"Well I am going to go back and sit in the office as if I have something to do." He responds with a small grin.
I turn my head to Thane and ask. "What are you doing after lunch, my heart?"
"I am going to try to finish my investigation into the embezzlement at Wide Track. I'm hoping that I will be done this afternoon. I have been on it for two months already."
"You are usually on a new case every month. What is different about this one?" Max asks.
I already know the answer to that question.
"This time they were a lot more thorough in hiding their actions. I have dug so deep that I know his shoe size at ten years of age." We all chuckle. "Now I need to get back to the office so I can wrap it up. Is there anything that you need or want us to pick up on the way home?"
"Nothing that I can think of right now. I am going to the house so that I can grab some clothes and uniforms. Then I will be at the condo." I say as we all stand to leave. I look up as I hear my name being called. I see nobody but Kim. Who is looking right at me. She is actually smiling at me.
"Who is that, sweetheart?"
"That is Kim. The girl who tried to fight me in high school."
They both laughed. I had told them about the situation of my high school years. Dad had shown them the video of the fight.
We walk toward the door as Kim tries to intercept us. "Hey, Ashton! I haven't seen you since high school. How are you doing? I was so sorry to hear about David's death."
"Hello. I am great. We haven't seen each other because we aren't friends. Now if you'll excuse us, we have to be somewhere else. Have a nice day." I step around her as Thane follows me. We stop to pay for lunch. I hear her talk to Max.
"My name is Kim. What is yours?"
"My name is Max Justice and I know who you are. And no, I don't care to know you." Max said. He looked up at me and asked. "Are we ready, angel?" He hugged me and kissed my neck.
