Well here I am again, trying to keep my mind off of my husbands and my babies, while working. Last night at dinner we told the family about the triplets. Everyone was so happy for us. Dad ended up paying our dinner. So I ate a piece of pecan pie.
Thane made love to me until we fell asleep in each other's arms. We woke up and fixed breakfast together before work. I really love his waffles. He puts peanut butter on mine for me. Max comes down as we are eating. His bacon and waffles are on his plate in the microwave. He usually gets up after we leave. He says that way he doesn't have wash dishes. We laughed when he said it. Mainly because we have a dishwasher for that. I can't stand washing dishes either.
"Good morning, angel. Good morning, Thane."
"Good morning, baby! Why are you up so early? Are you feeling ok?" I ask as I check his forehead.
He laughs at me as he catches my wrist and kisses it before kissing my lips. "I am feeling great, angel. I just wanted to see you before you go to work. Is that so shocking?"
"Yes!" Thane and both say.
"Aren't you afraid of having to do the dishes?" Thane asked still laughing.
I stand to put my plate in the dishwasher. Max takes it from me and opens the machine as he is rinsing the plate off. "The dishes are mine. You shouldn't be doing chores while you are pregnant. Let me do it for you."
"Baby! I am pregnant, not paralyzed. Besides, I am only three months along. Save that for when I can't bend over and see my shoes. Or get up from the toilet without help. Believe me. That shit is likely to happen if I am anything like my mom. Around month eight, she had to have help getting up off anything that she sat on. We couldn't leave her alone for more than half an hour. But only when she carried twins. But we have the extra hurdle of triplets. So maybe around month seven. Until then, when I need help, I will ask for it. Deal?"
"My thing is that you don't like asking for help." Max replied.
"What he said! Admit it, sweetheart, you are accustomed to being independent. So we know that you probably will not ask and do everything yourself. Call us a liar." Thane added.
I kept my mouth shut. I don't want to lie to my guys. Instead I come up with a way of getting out without admitting that they are correct. "Well I am off to work. I love you both. Be safe. I will see you this evening." I kiss Max then Thane. I walk away as they start laughing.
As I open the door I hear them. "I love you too, sweetheart! Be safe out there."
"I love you, angel! Be safe and call when you can." Max tells me.
"You too, baby! Maybe we can do lunch today." I shut the door with a smile on my face. I get on the elevator. Then back to real life.
At the office, everyone is whispering in groups. As if they are teens in the high school hallway. I ignore them. They are probably trying to figure out if I am ok after the shooting and them finding out that I am pregnant.
I work up the duty roster and enter the roll call room early. My normal routine. Except this time, the room is already filled with on duty officers. They are still talking amongst themselves but looking at me.
I laugh as I connect my laptop to the projector. "Alright! Does anyone want to tell me why all of you are talking about me?" I ask the room.
"Is it true? Are you pregnant?" Murphy asked.
"Yes, I am pregnant. I will take it a step farther. I am having triplets. Anything else?"
"Why are you at work? Isn't that too strenuous?" Decker asked. Appalled that I was thinking of working.
