Ashton's POV***

I am sitting in my office doing reviews for an officer to get his rank and raise. I don't know why I am having such a hard time with this. Maybe because he is always shy around me and refuses to look me straight in the eye when I am trying to talk to him. That just doesn't sit right with me. I was raised to look people in the eye when they are talking to me. Gpa says that is a sign of respect and should always be done.

My phone sends me a notice that the alarm at the pit is going off. I look at the cameras and see Breanna running around the building, trying to open the doors and windows. Then I see one of my officers, the one that I'm trying to do the review on, is looking for her. I jump up and run to my p.d. truck and haul ass to the pit. I try calling him on the radio with no answer. "505 to 511, answer me! Stop chasing her!" I call one last time before I slide to a stop beside his suv. I yell his name as he comes around the corner. "Hopkins! Stop right there!"

He stops and walks to meet me. "Chief, I saw a runaway. She is here somewhere. No need for you to be here. It is a simple event. I'll find her and take her home."

He is nervous and looking around. Every where but at me. Something is very off! I am not trusting this guy.

"Number one, you are way out of our jurisdiction. Number two, you are on private property. Number three, the girl you are chasing is not a runaway, I know her personally. Hand me your weapons. That means your gun, taser, and pepper spray." I held out my left hand as my right is on my own gun.

He stares at me for a moment still not in the eye. He is looking at my shoulder. He slowly hands me his gun. "Is this necessary?" He asks as he reaches for his taser and pepper spray.

"Yes, it is necessary. Now your cuffs and keys." I say as I drop his weapons on the hood of his suv.

"I told you what happened. You think that I am lying?" He asks as he hands over the cuffs and keys.

"You are lying. I told you the facts. I know because my family owns the Pit and I personally know the girl that you were chasing. I saw it on the security cameras as I was driving out here. You also broke the rules when you didn't answer my calls. You are supposed to answer all calls on your radio. Now turn around and place your hands on your head. You are under arrest." John Hopkins turns with his hands on his head. I place him in cuffs as I recite the Miranda Rights. I place him in my truck and call the office for someone to come and get the suv. Then I call rock and tell him what is going on. I also call dad and tell him since this is technically his jurisdiction.

I go to where Breanna is cowering by the dumpster. I call to her softly and tell her that she is safe. I urge her to come out. She still doesn't come out. "Breanna, I have arrested the creep and you are safe. He can't hurt you. Your dad is on his way out also. I called him." She slowly crawls out from the dumpster and runs to hug me as she cries. We walk back to the front where there are two more cars now. She cowers behind me. "You are safe, Breanna. I promise."

Rock flies into the parking lot and slides to a stop beside my truck. He jumps out and runs to us. I slow him down with a raised hand. He stops running and just walks fast to his daughter.

Breanna jumps into his arms and cries. I go tell Roger Lennon to take Hopkins to jail and I will process him in. I tell Jennifer Ogden to drive Hopkins suv back to the precinct. They instantly do as I ask. I call dad and inform him of what is going on. He is already half way here.

After talking to dad, Rock, and Breanna, I need to get back to the office and deal with Hopkins. I say my goodbyes. Complete with hugs. I leave for the office. I book Hopkins into the jail then call Thacker for her advice. She tells me that she will be here in an hour to conduct the investigation. It is now an Internal Affairs case. Thacker shows up with Kyle in tow. We go over everything that I witnessed today. They go over Breanna's statement also. The charges against Hopkins will be kidnapping and attempted sexual assault of a minor over twelve but under sixteen. Both are serious felonies and have just put him on unpaid suspension until trial. If he is found guilty, he will lose his law enforcement certifications. I am in the office when I remember to call Max. I tell him and Thane what is happening. I tell Max that we will have to postpone our dinner picnic. Then he volunteers to bring it here, I am so happy. Otherwise, I don't know if I will get any dinner.
