Chapter IV
Jason was completely and utterly lost. He never navigated; that was Leo's job! Neville was no help.
Jason found Neville Longbottom pretty easily; not that he was even trying. Neville was a character from the Harry Potter series, and was supposed to be showing Jason where the other characters assigned to his host were.
They'd checked everywhere. Jason didn't understand how one could forget something so easily. Of course, he noticed the Rememberall hanging out of Neville's pocket. The smoke inside was red, meaning he'd forgotten something. Jason had a pretty good idea of what it was.
Cafeteria, nothing. Gym, nothing. Auditorium, nothing. Every room was the same. Neville was the worst person to have with you when you were lost. He had no sense of direction and constantly stopped to look at the plants in the courtyards.
"Can you believe the plants here?" Neville would say, "They're all the same. None of them move or scream. Pointless if you ask me." At that point, Jason would say he wasn't and push him along.
Finally, Neville remembered that the group was hiding in a janitors closet on the seventh grade hallway. Annoyed, Jason followed him to the closet. The Rememberall's smoke was now white. Of all the places, he thought, they choose a janitor's closet...
The room was packed full of characters. Cato, a temporary antagonist from the Hunger Games, Edmund, a major king from the Chronicles of Narnia, Josh Newman, the gold twin from The Alchemyst, Carter Kane, the eye of Horus from the Kane Chronicles, and Iggy, a blind member of Maximum Ride's flock, sat in a circle with a map of the school in the middle. "You are here", "Your Host is Here", tiny figures representing each of the characters in their exact positions, and a calculator sat on the map. They moved as if they were real beings, though they were no more than clay shabti Carter had stolen before he'd left.
"It's about time you found your way here." Cato criticized, "We were about ready to pick you up and bring you here ourselves."
Carter spoke, "Jason! Nice to see you in one piece."
"As I was saying," Josh said, annoyed, "The villains are bound to find that we've all escaped. When they do, they'll probably use the portable escape pods to follow us. Psychologically, the most likely host for them will be Gary DeSota and Ellen Etchelle. They should appear about an hour after Jason. He arrived at 11:48, which means we have exactly 24 minutes to formulate a plan to begin contact with the others without them finding out."
Jason leaned towards Neville, "How is it he knows all this?"
"At the end of the final book in his series, Josh became Marethyu, or death, and supposedly learned 'everything'."
Iggy, "So what is our plan?"
An idea struck Jason. As if he'd read his mind, Edmund snickered, "Did any of you happen to notice the inspirational sticky notes covering the hallway?"
Chapter V
Rachel Elizabeth Dare had been plotting for what felt like hours. One of the perks of being the character connected to the outside was that she didn't black out on the journey between realms. Now she sat in the main office with four other characters surrounding her.
Luna Lovegood looked up, "Spectra specs won't help outside of the story."
Glimmer laughed, "Those things didn't even work in the story."
"Actually," Daphne Grimm said boldly, "Didn't they worked in the sixth book when she found Harry on the train?"
Pernelle Flamel sighed, "No. That was just the movie. Tonks found him in the book. What does it matter anyways? It doesn't help us now..."
