Chapters XXVIII - XXX

Chapter XXVIII

Tanner Fancie was much stronger than he looked. He'd flung a pot of fondu half way across the kitchen screaming, "EAT CHEESE, ROBBERS!!!!" before Jason was able to sit him down.

After convincing him that they literally had no reason to hurt him, Jason explained what happened three times until Tanner believed him. The kid was on the verge of schizophrenia, which was understandable given the circumstances.

Tanner, "So what you're telling me is that there are different realms, and that nine of them were attacked by the 'most notorious of villains'. Then you all escaped, and if they capture you, they'll have the power to take over this realm."

Carter frowned, "To the point, yeah."

"Okay then. So you said that the villains probably followed you into the 'outer realm'?"

Josh, "There's a 92% chance that they did. The most likely hosts for them are Gary DeSota and Ellen Etchelle."

Tanner laughed, "Gary DeSota? The guy's so annoying. He's in my geometry class, and my ELA class. Thank god they're the only two."

Neville, "What about Ellen?"

"She's one of those stereotypical popular idiots. Low classes and junk. Thinks she's cool. Blah blah blah."

Edmund, "Do you think either of them would be smart enough to notice our sticky-notes?"

"Definitely not Ellen. Gary, maybe. Where'd you put 'em?"

"The 600 hall."

"He probably won't notice them then. Have you gotten any response yet?"

Jason continued, "Piper put my name up overtop of hers. I didn't have time to respond. She needs to know who our host is, but we need to spell it out slowly so that it doesn't get the other kids attention."

Cato, "So why don't we just put up Tanner. Then she can put up her host's first name, and the next day we'll both put up the last names."

Tanner smiled, "That would probably work."

Iggy, "So that's what we'll do. We start tomorrow."

Chapter XXIX

Nevada Springs sat outside on the steps to her front door having a friendly discussion with Rachel and her group.

Nevada smiled, "Something tells me everyone having a required evacuation on the same day wasn't just a coincidence."

Pernelle laughed, "Not even a bit. They planned it. Right down to the second."

"So Rachel. Prophecy that goes along with it?"

Rachel swallowed. She hated this prophecy, "The evil ones are tired and sick, of getting beaten by their own trick. Join forces they will and attack nine books, wrecking havoc with terrible looks. The ones who escape will stop the fall, the ones who escape will save us all."

Nevada frowned, "We'll that's a little saturnine."

Glimmer chuckled, "Vocabulary word?"

Nevada looked at the ground, "Maybe..."

Luna smiled, "You know. This really was a perfect match."

"You've always been my favorite Harry Potter character." Nevada laughed, "When I was little, I used to play Harry Potter with my friends Maddie and Jordan. Maddie was always Hermione, Jordan was always Ginny (although she was nothing like her), and I was always you."

Daphne giggled, "You know, it's times like this that I think we shouldn't even bother to go back. And then I think of home and I know I can't give it up."

Nevada grinned, "So what do you need me to do?"

Rachel, "We laid out a pencil with a note in it in Mr. Dayes's classroom for someone to find. We need you to look for any clues from the others."

"And if I find one?"

"We'll be with you throughout the day. We're checking the pencil during every five-minute class change. Other than that, you'll just let us know."

"Okay. And if people notice?"

Luna laughed, "If you're looking correctly, they won't."

Chapter XXX

After explaining the plan to Persephone, Demeter sat in a circle with her group and waited to glitch into her host's home. When it happened, she laughed. It was a hotel room.

Once they appeared to their host, she was surprisingly calm, "Am I crazy or a victim of robbery?"

Demeter laughed, "A little crazy, but not quite mad."

The girl chuckled, "Ida Pearl Jefferson James. What exactly would that mean?"

Rue smiled, "You may want to sit down."

Ida stared, "So what you're telling me is that you're all fictional characters who escaped from their books, and now you have to find each other and save your 'realm' and ultimately my 'realm'?"

Katie smiled, "Yeah, if you wanna be concise."

Ida, "Awesome."

Tsagaglalal, "Which brings us to the plan."

Sabina Pleasure continued, "We've gotten in contact with Persephone through the courtyard plants. During third block, you'll get a pass to go to the library. You'll come to the 7th grade courtyard. Persephone's host will meet us there. Once you know each other's names, we'll be able to see each other and we'll work towards finding the others."

Ida laughed, "And what happens if we're 'approached' by an adult?"

Rue explained, "You'll tell them you were on your way back to class from the library because they didn't have your book."

"And if they know I'm in 8th grade?"

Demeter laughed, "Every plan has its kinks."
