Chapter XLIII
Cassidy stared at the girl who'd walked through the door: Demeter's host, "Ida?"
The atmosphere frantically glitched as she spoke the words. When it finally ceased, Persephone could see her mother and her group.
Persephone spoke, "So, you both already know each other then?"
Cassidy answered, "We both moved here last year."
Ida laughed, "I made friends with her and a couple others and we've all been close ever since."
Persephone chuckled, "So. Who are your other friends? We can check them out as matches first."
Cassidy explained, "Maddie, McKenna, Amy, Melanie, Ali, George, Lucas, Nevada, Tanner, Carson, and Jordan."
Demeter inquired, "Any classes with them?"
Ida spoke, "I have French 1 with Maddie, Tanner, McKenna, George, Melanie, and Carson."
Cassidy, "And I have Spanish 1 with Nevada and Jordan."
Persephone, "Anything else?"
Ida, "We're all in P.E. and Health together. Today we're playing handball."
Demeter smiled, "We'll check them out there."
Persephone finished, "You both need to get back to class before your teachers begin to send out search parties."
As Cassidy and Ida walked back into the hallway, the characters officially greeted each other. Lily pulled Katie into a hug, even though they'd never actually met, Rue smiled at Effie, who was, predictably, still admiring the nail polish, and Tsagaglalal, Sabina Pleasure, and Snow talked, as they had no one else to do so with.
Persephone turned to her mother, "So what's the plan now?"
Demeter smiled, "Now... We find the children."
Chapter XLIV
Frank had to drag the group back to the cafeteria, as everyone hated the smell. After a while, he talked Nicholas and Peter onto his side, and at that point no one could argue against them.
As they reached the cafeteria, Frank reached under the vending machine and pulled out the newly made, blue diamond.
The sapphire had a small note in Hazel's handwriting inside. It read:
Frank! Like before...
Frank threw the diamond to Peeta, who once again smashed it against the ground, where it shattered into a million pieces. Frank picked up the note and read:
Frank,
Thank the gods you found the note! I was beginning to worry that you were denser than I thought (not to be rude or anything...). My host's name is Ali Acre. Leave the note under ONE piece of diamond this time... I cut myself a lot trying to find the note last time.
Love you. See you soon,
Hazel
P.S. I may have a hit on Percy!
Frank pulled a pen out of his pocket, and as he began to reply, the bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. He sighed, "Ugh! Ron. Wait outside the 800 hall for Lucas and lead him back here."
Ron nodded, "Got it." He ran out of the cafeteria as fast as he could.
Frank scribbled a note onto the back of the paper, being sure to mention Lucas's name, while Alex and Walt searched for the largest piece of sapphire. As Frank slid the note back under the vending machine, sapphire piece on top, Ron walked in, with Lucas trailing behind him.
"So what's this I hear about Hazel?" said Lucas.
Frank answered, "We've found Hazel's host. It's too late for her to find out today, which sucks since its Friday, but we left a note for her to find on Monday."
Lucas smiled, "So. Who is it?"
Fang replied, "Ali Acre."
Lucas's eyes widened and his face paled, "Ali Acre?"
Nicholas stared, "Yeah. Why?"
Lucas rasped, "I know her."
Chapter XLV
Percy stood at the end of the 800 hall with the rest of the group, waiting for George to meet them as discussed. When he came, George turned to Percy, "I think I've found something. Follow me."
George lead the the group through the hallway and into the seventh grade courtyard. Once in the courtyard, George showed them the small minnow pond in the corner.
Percy, "So. A minnow pond. What about it's important?"
George pointed to the top left of the pond, "I think they're rubies."
Percy took a closer look at the corner of the minnow pond, "Oh my gods. They are rubies." Percy was looking at a collection of small, red gemstones.
George continued, "It looks like a message, but I can't tell for sure. I think it's in Greek."
Percy's mind created the words spelled out of rubies: Ηαζελ Λεφεσγυε. Υποδοχής Αλι Αγρε.
George, "Do you know what it says?"
Percy replied, "It's definitely Greek. Hazel Levesque... Host... Ali Acre."
George's eyes widened with the news, "Really?"
Percy frowned, "Yeah. Is that bad?"
George smiled, "Not bad. Good actually. I know her."
Harry spoke up from the crowd, "Really?"
George laughed, "Yeah. She's one of my closest friends."
Puck snorted, "Well that worked out, didn't it. When's the soonest you'll see her?"
George pondered, "We're all going to the beach tomorrow. She'll be there so..." George paused in thought.
Gale, "So what?"
George gasped, "I just realized... Ali stays afterschool. I can still catch her." He ran into the hall, with Percy and the others following behind.
