The sunlight streamed through the tall windows of Morgana's chambers, illuminating the ornate furnishings and glinting off the various pieces of jewelry scattered across her vanity.
A goblin perched on the edge of Morgana's jewelry box, tossing bracelets into the air with a gleeful cackle. "Nearly, nearly, nearly," it chanted, clearly amused with itself.
Merlin burst into the room, his expression frantic. "No!" he shouted, trying to stop the creature.
The goblin froze mid-toss, its glowing yellow eyes locking onto Merlin's. With a wicked grin, it leapt toward the open window, clutching Morgana's healing bracelet.
"Come back here!" Merlin yelled, rushing toward the window, but it was too late. The goblin vanished into the bright daylight beyond.
Merlin groaned in frustration, turning back to the mess it had left behind. Jewelry was strewn across the floor and vanity, and Morgana's jewelry box sat wide open. Muttering under his breath, he began to gather the scattered pieces, hurriedly trying to put them back in order.
Behind him, the sound of a throat clearing made him freeze.
"I'm really not sure it suits you, Merlin," Coventina said, standing in the doorway with an amused smile.
Merlin spun around, a bracelet dangling from his fingers. "This isn't what it looks like," he said quickly, his face flushing.
Coventina raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Oh, I'm sure it isn't," she said, her tone teasing. "You were just trying out Morgana's jewelry for fun?"
"No!" Merlin protested, dropping the bracelet back into the box. "There was... a goblin."
"A goblin," Coventina repeated flatly, crossing her arms. "You released a goblin?"
"Yes, a goblin," Merlin insisted. "It was throwing her bracelets out the window!"
"And you thought the best way to deal with that was to... try on her bracelets?" Coventina asked, her lips twitching as she tried not to laugh.
"I didn't try anything on!" Merlin said, flustered. "I was putting them back!"
"Of course," Coventina said, smirking. "Very noble of you. Though I'm sure Morgana will appreciate hearing how dedicated you are to organizing her jewelry."
Merlin groaned, running a hand through his hair. "Can we just... not tell her about this?" he pleaded.
Coventina tapped her chin, pretending to think. "Hmm, I don't know," she said playfully. "It's a good story."
"Coventina," Merlin said, his voice almost a whine.
"Fine," Coventina said, laughing softly. "Your secret's safe with me. But if you do decide to accessorize in the future, let me know. I'll help you pick something that actually suits you."
She winked and walked out of the room, leaving Merlin standing there, torn between relief and embarrassment.
"Bloody goblins," Merlin muttered under his breath as he finished tidying the jewelry box.

The next day, Coventina and Morgana entered Gaius' chambers, her face drawn with fatigue. She spotted him bustling around, muttering to himself.
"Gaius?" Morgana called, her voice tired but sharp.
The goblin-possessed Gaius turned to her, an exaggerated look of irritation on his face. "Yes, yes. What is it?"
"I couldn't sleep last night," Morgana began, crossing her arms. "My healing bracelet's been stolen."
Coventina's eyebrow rose, realizing that Merlin was telling the truth about the goblin, the previous morning.
