2 weeks later...

Y/n settled into her new job nicely. Her coworkers were all really great and she seemed to get along with them straight away.

She by no means knew everyone, but at least the cybersecurity team of 15 people seemed to be a pretty tight nit group.

The office wasn't too far from Y/ns house, which made getting to work really easy. Today, Y/n decided to go out to grab some lunch out of office with a few people from her team.

"Y/n?" She heard her name being called from afar as she left the cafe they ate at. Y/n looked around, unsure where the voice came from, until she spotted her.

"You guys go ahead, I'll see you back at the office." Y/n told them and they went without questions.

She turned back towards Taylor, who was now almost next to her. "Hey." Taylor said with a smile as she pulled Y/n in for a hug.

"What's up, Tay. Didn't know you're in the city." Y/n hummed as they pulled away from their embrace. "Oh yeah, I just got here this morning. Work reasons." Taylor said as they started walking.

"How are you holding up?" Taylor asked, looking towards Y/n. It hasn't been all that long since she found out what happened to Y/n during her deployment.

"Really good. I got a job recently and it's been nice to get out of the house. Though I must say I never thought I'd be one to have an office job." Y/n chuckled.

"At least you're moving on from it. You didn't let it hold you back." Taylor said encouragingly. "How's Gracie doing?"

"She's good, I think. But I don't know, something weird has been going on." Y/n said, bitting the inside of her cheek nervously.

"Weird in what way?" Taylor asked as they stopped walking in a more quiet spot where they could talk more easily.

"I don't know, maybe I'm paranoid, but for the last few weeks, I keep getting this feeling like I'm missing something... like between Gracie and Mia." Y/n said quietly, barely able to entertain the idea that something was up.

Y/n noticed how Taylors eyebrows furrowed and her expression shifted. "What? Do you know something?" Y/n asked, she considered Taylor a friend, surely she wouldn't hide anything important.

"Not particularly. Did Gracie tell you about that time we had a girls night, I think it was about a month into your deployment?" Taylor asked.

"She did." You told her, not seeing the relevance. That was months ago at this point. Surely nothing happened between them.

"I noticed that night that they were a little touchy with each other, but when I asked Gracie about it, she said that Mia was just not used to so little physical contact since you left."

"I believed her because why would she lie to me and nothing that inappropriate happened, but I don't know. I can't tell you for sure if there's something there, but clearly there's a reason to worry." Taylor explained as Y/n just stood there listening.

"I could have sworn I saw Mia abruptly pull away as I walked in a few weeks ago, but I didn't actually see it full on so I brushed it off and nothing like that happened since. But things have been different between Mia and I. We used to be so close and now we aren't." Y/n said, her voice low and disappointed.

"I really hope there's nothing there, but don't rush to confront them in case there is. Don't give them a chance to cover it up and deny it." Taylor advised.

Gracie was one of Taylors best friends, but she wouldn't cover her potential affair. It just wouldn't be fair to Y/n.

"Thanks. At least I know that I may not be so paranoid after all. I know she's your best friend, so thanks for telling me." Y/n hummed as she looked at Taylor.
