Chapter 12: Kitana's Escape and Kung Lao's Death

"It's true, Mother! Liu Kang is married to a dead woman! I saw her! A corpse! Standing right here with Liu Kang!" Kitana explained everything to her mother about what happened. Jade was there listening to Kitana.

"Liu Kang was in your room!?" Sindel said in shock.

"I have to help him!" Kitana said, walking up to her mother.

"The scandal!" Sindel said in rage.

"Come sit in your chair, Kitana. You're shaking like a leaf. Let Rain fetch you a blanket." Jade said as she was about to take Kitana out of the bedroom. Unfortunately, Sindel stopped her from letting Kitana leave the room.

"Fetch her a straitjacket! She's completely mad! Come, Jade!" Then Sindel brought the key and locked her own daughter in the room.

After being locked in the room, Kitana tried to find a way to escape, but she had a brilliant idea. She opened the balcony door and climbed down with her thin blue blanket. When the blanket started to shred, Kitana stayed still when she saw Mileena guarding the door.

"Mileena, come to bed at once!" Sindel said to her supposed daughter.

"But, Mother, I have a guard duty," Mileena said tiredly.

"Reptile will take your place. Rest assured." Sindel said.

She sighed in defeat. "Alright, I'm coming."

Fortunately, Mileena left when Kitana carefully landed on the ground. She made her blanket as a cloak before she went to go get help. While escaping, she found Kung Lao and Raiden searching for Liu Kang.

"Kitana, what are you doing here?" Raiden asked curiously.

"Raiden, Kung Lao, I need your help. Liu Kang was taken to Netherrealm. He is married to a dead woman." Kitana explained.

"What!?" Raiden and Kung Lao said in shock.

"Wait... isn't she the mystery girl Liu Kang was with?" Kung Lao asked.

"Basically, Kung Lao," Raiden said, nodding.

"He needs our help. We need to rescue him." Kitana said.

"Of course, Kitana, but there is only one person who will help us," Raiden said. Then he led them to the church where Quan Chi was at. As he knocked on the door serval times, Quan Chi answered.

"Princess Kitana? Raiden? Kung Lao? What are you three doing here?" Quan Chi asked, confused.

"Forgive us for the interruption, Quan Chi, but we need your help," Raiden said.

"But Princess Kitana should in her home, prostrate with grief," Quan Chi said.

"Quan Chi, I have to ask you something," Kitana said.

"This is most irregular." When Quan Chi was about to close the door, Kitana let herself in as Raiden and Kung Lao came in.

"Please, I beg of you! You are the only one in the Outworld who knows of what awaits beyond the grave!" Kitana said.

Quan Chi gave her a confused look. "A grim topic for a bride-to-be."

"It is a bride, I fear! Which is why I must know: can the living marry the dead?" Kitana said. The thunder began to rumble.

"What on Earth are you speaking about?" Quan Chi asked, shocked.

"Please, it's Liu Kang! He's married to a corpse! He has a Corpse Bride!" Kitana said.

"There must be some way to undo what's been done, Quan Chi," Raiden said.

Quan Chi hummed at this before he smirked a little. "I believe I know the thing to do. Come with me."
