Liu Kang was in the alleyway with the coffins, feeling depressed. He looked at the flower, now wilted, when he remembered his first meeting with Kitana. He let out a long sigh as he decided to throw the flower away. He buried his face with his bare hands. He wasn't going to cry.
"I'm too late," Liu Kang said to himself.
"Liu Kang?" Suddenly, he noticed Serenity was checking on him. She was standing over the wall while facing him.
"Serenity?"
"Are you alright? You look depressed." Serenity said as she walked up to him. She then sat next to him, hoping he would feel comfortable.
He looked away. "You don't need to know."
"It's alright to tell me. We're married, right? I mean, supposedly." Serenity said.
He sighed. "Serenity, do you remember the other woman I met up with?"
She nodded, almost not looking forward to hearing him mention her. "Yes. Why?"
"She's married to the other man. I guess Kitana doesn't mean that. Probably she agreed to marry him." Liu Kang said as he didn't want to make Serenity feel jealous and heartbroken again.
"Oh..." When she looked away, she noticed the wilted flower lying on the ground. She decided to pick it up and used her magic to make it look bloom again. Liu Kang was impressed to see her magic tricks.
"How did you do that?" Liu Kang asked, curiously.
She smiled at him. "I am a demigoddess, Liu Kang. I was born with God's power."
"What are you?" He asked again.
"I was the Moon Princess of Silver Millennium. I am half-goddess and half-human. I was taught by my father who is a God." Serenity explained.
"I see." At that moment, Serenity gave him the flesh flower after smelling it a bit. When they looked at each other, they began to blush softly. They both smiled. It reminded him of when he first met and fell in love with Kitana.
Deja vu, Liu Kang thought. It was almost like he and Serenity were getting close together.
"I hope I don't interrupt." Suddenly, when they were about to kiss, they were interrupted by Stolas and Artemis.
"Oh! Stolas! What brings you here?" Serenity said as she backed away and smiled at him nervously.
"We need to talk. There is something very important we must discuss." Stolas said.
She nodded. "O-Of course."
Just when she was about to leave, Serenity quickly kissed Liu Kang on the lips. His eyes widened, and he blushed heavily as he was being kissed by Serenity. This was the second time she kissed him. After that, she took off leaving with Stolas and Artemis. After that, Liu Kang decided to follow them and see what the discussion was all about.

"There is a complication with your marriage," Stolas said as he brought the book to her.
Serenity became worried. "I don't understand."
"The vows are binding only until death do you part," Stolas said.
"What are you saying?" She asked, confused.
"Death has already parted you," he revealed.
Serenity gasped as she began to panic. Liu Kang, at hearing this, was shocked. "If he finds out, he'll leave." She said, "There must be something you can do!"
"Well, there is one way." Then Stolas turned the page and showed it to Serenity. "It requires the greatest sacrifice.
"Go on! Go to the good part!" Artemis exclaimed excitedly.
"What is it?" Serenity asked, confused.
"We have to kill him!" Artemis answered.
Serenity gasped again.
Liu Kang gasped, too. He made sure they didn't hear him.
"Liu Kang had to give up his life he had forever. He would need to repeat his vows in Earthrealm, known as the land of the living, and drink from the wine of ages." Stolas said.
"Oh, no...! Poison!" Serenity cried out.
"This would stop his heart forever. Only then would he be free to give it to you?" Stolas said.
Liu Kang gasped quietly as he backed away a bit.
"I could never ask him..." Then Serenity collapsed to her knees and started to cry. She buried her face with her hands. Stolas and Artemis began to comfort.
Liu Kang couldn't take this anymore, so he decided to step in and began to talk to her. "You don't have to."
Serenity gasped as she stopped crying. She stood up, realizing Liu Kang had overheard their discussion.
Liu Kang looked at her and smiled. "I'll do it."
"What!?"
"My boy, if you choose this path, you may never return to Earthrealm. Do you understand?" Stolas warned him.
Then Liu Kang took her hand and helped her stand up. They began to look at each others' gazes with affection.
He smiled at her. "I do."
Serenity smiled at him back. It was then Liu Kang pressed his lips against her, surprising her a bit. Serenity never expected him to kiss her. And so she kissed him back passionately.
"Awww!" Artemis, Luna, Stolas, and all the demons exclaimed as they watched them kissing.
I can't believe it! First I had feelings for Kitana, but now Serenity! Liu Kang thought, feeling confused about why he would give her a kiss. His heart was confusing him as he never had feelings for her before.
While this was going on, Kung Lao and Jerrod watched the whole scene when they never expected Liu Kang to fall for the Corpse Bride. They also found out Liu Kang was going to sacrifice himself for Serenity.
"Oh, no...! This is not good...! I thought he loved Kitana!" Jerrod said, worried.
"Liu Kang, no! You can't mean that!" Kung Lao cried out though Liu Kang didn't hear him.
"We have to warn Kitana about this," Jerrod said.
"What about Raiden? Quan Chi still has Shinnok's Amulet." Kung Lao said.
"We'll help Kitana escape from Demande's hellhole and then we have to save Raiden and then stop the wedding," Jerrod said with a frowning look.
