Chapter 30: We'll Miss You

Thursday Week 8
Akira's POV
there's like so much to prep for end of term. Especially with the PSN. So much stressful stuff to deal with, especially because I'm leaving the school, Cindy will be taking my place as head of the PSN. Who knows who will take my lead role in the musical? Everyone's getting jumpy, eager to find out. I know Aina is scrambling for it. It's sad I'm leaving the school to go to KPS. I might hang out with Softie and Teddy maybe. They seem nice and I shared a room with one on camp. But my friends here, Coco, Izzy, Katerina and Paisley – they understand me and we've made so many memories together. Especially Coco. When I first came to the school I thought making friends would be pointless and stupid but it wasn't. I met Coco and everything about her changed my mind. It really did. We're working on the last edition of term 2 2024, my last newspaper. I will keep it forever. "alright Akira! What are we all writing today?" Cindy asks me excitedly. I smile. What should we do though? "Cindy, you can do highlights of term 2, extracurricular achievements this term, yada yada. Emerald you can do an interview on Chef Diego, talk about food, healthy eating, what we should and shouldn't be eating." Emerald sighs. "anything drama related instead?" "No, Emerald. Newspaper isn't about drama. Lacy, you can interview a student who came this turn and how they're term went." I say. "who?" she asks me. Who have we not interviewed that came this term? We interviewed Kane at the start.. "interview Layla." I gave everyone their roles and I got to mine. "Hey can I do something else? I have a better idea for something." Cindy says to me. Cindy's nice and mature and is trusted. "You know what? Sure, go for it." I tell her. She smiles and gets to work. "hey akira." Emerald comes up to me. Please don't ask to switch roles. "Yes?" I say sounding worn out. "What's the coupon this week?" she asks. Oh she's actually asking a question worth asking – for once. Okay it's obvious, I don't like Emerald but I'm sure you understand why. "We'll put in a $25 gift card to Daniel's shop." I say. "ooh I want that. I love Daniel's shop. You can find so many things there! and he serves food!" Lacy says. She's right! Daniel's shop is amazing. "ooh someone likes Daniel." Emerald teases Lacy. Lacy glares at her. "I have a girlfriend. plus he's a cat." She says to Emerald. "I don't get it, what's so wrong with a dog and cat liking each other? I know you like Daniel but what if it was a case for someone else?" cindy says. "Cindy, you don't think it's weird at all? Imagine you and Bailey dating." Cindy looked disgusted. "gross!" "see?" emerald says. "girl, I live with Bailey. He's like a step brother to me. Ain't no way." Cindy looked like she was about to vomit. "Well here's this. Akira, what species is your boyfriend?" Emerald asks me. "A cat." Arthur is a cat last time I checked. "Now Lacy, what species is your girlfriend." "A dog." She says. "Maybe there is someone who's a cat or dog who likes the other species, but they don't admit it because of cats or dogs like you, a emerald." Cindy has a point. After my PSN session I went to lunch. Today I'm sitting with Arthur 1 on 1. Like a catch-up. We haven't seen each other much this term. We've both been so involved with our extracurriculars, school, daily stuff, friends and all that we've just forgotten to really spend time together or talk. I grab  2 pepperoni pizza slices, some cantaloupe cubes, cucumber, freeze dried chicken treats and a matcha latte. I go over to one of the two seater tables. I sit down with my food. I see Arthur loading up his tray. He smiles when he sees me and comes speed walking over. "Hey!" He says joyfully. Glad to see he's back to his old self. Arthur looks disgusted at my matcha latte. "What's wrong?" I almost say as a laugh. "Your drink. It's green." He says looking disgusted. "It's a matcha latte." His expression changes. "Oh. Makes more sense." He says nodding. I smile. He looks as if he's going to ask a burning question. "Akira, will we stay together? Even when move to another school?" He asks. "Yeah! Of course! Unless.. you didn't-" "no of course I want to stay together I just wanted to make sure you were onboard too." I also have a burning question for him. "Were you asking because you like Alaine?" I ask. He stops midway eating, his pizza drops from his mouth. I've caught him off guard. "Alaine? I don't like her. She's just a good friend. I promise you, Akira." I nod. I trust him and I believe him. Surely he can't fall in love with someone else so easily, haha! "But I think she likes me." He says. I could already tell. She did say she had a crush back in the cabin when we were talking about things. "I figured that." At least he's being honest. I don't like it when someone keeps secrets. Like someone else did. Except it wasn't secretive what they did, they happily did it in front of me. They don't do it anymore for someone. Maybe they changed. Anyways, I love Arthur not him. We start talking about other things. I can't believe I'm leaving. Outside everyone is like saying how much they'll miss me. Truth is, I'll miss them all too - we'll most of them
