It had been a quiet day in the protocol. More than half the agents were off on missions, so the few that were left were enjoying the quiet. Deadlock was in the common room, watching some old documentary when Skye comes in, still in her hiking outfit and furious swiping the sweat off her face and neck. "Oi! Hey Deadlock! whatcha been up to." Deadlock just motioned simply to the screen, hearing the steady thumping of Skye's shoes before she flopped onto the couch. Deadlock turned her gaze to the aussie as she settled in, instlany noting how beat up her hiking shoes were. 

"That can't be good for ya.. especially not while on the trail." She muttered, earning a confused look. She just motioned to the boots, and watched Skye's face light up. "Oh yea.. Gotta be careful they dont break, but they were a gift and I intend to use them until they do." "Yea until your stuck in the forest unable to call for help or get back?" Deadlock teased, laughing when her friend did. "Shut it you.. They work fine. Now you on the other hand, still watching these old things?" "It's not a old thing, it's the past staljegr missions." Skye nodded and settled down to watch without anymore questions, willing to support her friend. 

A few weeks later, Deadlock was out of the building to do a bit of shopping. She was with Yoru, Phoenix and Raze, not the most practical companions, but the duelist knew how to make this trip fun. They had just finished up and were trying to find a exit, with Phoenix and Raze already arguing about the direction to go, when Deadlock caught sight of a Footlocker. She remembered that Skye's hiking boots were so beat up she had fallen and scraped up her hands and knees pretty well, karma for repeatedly saying she'd be fine, Deadlock remembers Jett saying, Nudging the aussie with a smirk, earning a annoyed huff. Deadlock shook her head at the duelist, as the fighting continued. "Hey let's check in there real quick." She said simply motioning to the store when the duelist looked over. Phoenix and Raze immediately forgot what they were fighting about and ran for the store, already looking at the cool new styles as Yoru and Deadlock walked in. 

Shaking her head she headed towards the hiking boots, quietly looking over them for a good style for the Aussie. "Why hiking boots? Finally going to join Skye in her morning hikes?" Yoru said, standing just behind her. "Nah.. Her boots are all but falling apart, call it a early Christmas present." Yoru did not respond after that, other than to point out a few pairs that her girlfriend would like before walking away towards the duelist to make sure they wouldn't cause trouble. Deadlock eventually settled on a pair of black hiking boots, with non-slip, and steel toed just in case. After paying for them, and waiting for Phoenix to finally settle on a pair of shoes to buy, they were on their way to the exit. 

After debating for abit Deadlock finally grabbed the box and headed for the Aussies room, Shifting the box from hand to hand. She had no idea why she was nervous, it wasn't anything bad, just giving her new shoes. Reaching the door, she hesitated further, not hearing footsteps come up until the person spoke. "Oh, Deadlock? Whats up?" Turning in a flash she saw the very agent she needed to see anyway. "Hey Skye... Uhhh these are for you.." She handed over the box, and waited with bated breath as Skye shifted them to one arm so she could open them. "OH! Thank you! I've needed new ones from your words!" Skye said laughing when Deadlock nudged her. "Hey! I was right though! You fell and got hurt." Not lost nor couldn't call for help though!" she said cheekily, earning a glare from Deadlock. "whatever, they are non-slip and steel toed, so you wont get hurt anymore.." Skye's eyes light up at that. "OOOO! perfect! how'd you know what style to get?" "Yoru, he pointed out the ones you said you'd like." Skye laughed and rolled her eyes faintly. "Of course he did that big softie.. Well I appreciate it deadlock, really. Have a good night yeah?" Deadlock smiled and nodded, saying a soft 'You two, enjoy cuddling with your boyfriend' before she turned and headed back to her own room. 

'Mission accomplished.' Deadlock whispered to herself.
